Saw Tooth alloys
Thinking of getting some from Paddock Spares. They seem to look nice on line. Any good?

I have recently purchased these and am extremely pleased with them.

They are Britpart, no dangerous bits like those in the link, no orange peel and perfect finish.

You also get the wheel caps too.

If you do some research you will find that Britpart may actually supply these to LR.

As for Paddock them selves - arrived in two days and perfectly packed.

Wheels are paired and outer rim facing inwards.

I have purchased more from them as I'm extremely pleased with their service and prices.

I find it VERY difficult to belive Britpart supply LR as when I went and picked mine up a couple of months ago they were all in LR boxes and were casted with LR on the inside !!!

Believe it or don't believe it. It's up to you. All I know is it's not the 1st time I've seen the big blue truck dropping off pallets of these to my local LR Dealer.

Don't you think they are in a LR box because that's who they will be supplying them to? Just a thought Cool

It also would explain how the user above has found his Britpart sawtooths to be so good...

We went over this before. Britpart may well be supplying to the DEALER, but they are totally separate from the manufacturer and they will not be supplying to them. LR will be buying direct from the wheel manufacturer. Britpart don't make wheels.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

It's kind of a non-point your making there Martin.

Surely if Britpart are supplying LR, they are also supplying the same wheels to the public? I'm not saying Britpart are manufacturing the wheels - just supplying. LR don't manufacture wheels either...

And I know we went over this before. I was just replying to a post Wink

I don't think you understand the difference between LR the manufacturer buying parts for the line or for genuine parts supply, and a dealer - who is a separate business - who buys LR cars and genuine parts AND parts from other suppliers.

Just because you have seen a Britpart lorry at a dealership doesn't mean LR genuine parts come from them.

A delivery by a genuine parts van to an indy does not mean all the parts they supply are genuine.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

PS: I'm equally allowed to reply to a thread with my opinion, even if you don't agree. I also don't appreciate being told I am making a "non-point".  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I give up...

People can purchase from LR or purchase from Britpart. I'm past caring. If they want to waste they're money they should buy from LR - ITS THE SAME ******* WHEEL. Manufactured by the same wheel manufacturer..

Normally I wouldn't touch Britpart wheels if you paid me, but in this case it's different.

^^ Think Martin does have a point there. Land Rover with their volumes will only buy from equipment manufacturers themselves according clearly defined quality specs. Britpart or anybody else in that supply chain is a link too many. No room for an extra link in the chain needing a margin.
Further it is not even normal that a offical Land Rover dealer (or retailer as they are called now) would buy official Land Rover wheels from anybody else than from Land Rover themselves. If a dealer will sell you original Sawtooths, it is in the end Land Rover who are responsible for warranty and quality, etc. Last thing a car manufacturer needs is that their dealers are selling so called Land Rover wheels which the dealer sourced themselves from a 3rd party supplier. Something goes wrong with those and Land Rover are the party held responsible.
I strongly doubt that a official dealer would be allowed to sell Sawtooths or any other Land Rover parts, which the dealer did not originate from Land Rover. Surely not the case here.

Duckworth are an LR dealer AND a Britpart dealer. They do not mix or confuse the two.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Just so I'm clear as I may be up for some Sawtooths....

Manufacturer A makes wheel. LR and Britpart buy direct, LR to fit directly and supply to dealers, Britpart to sell direct to public, other suppliers (eg Padock) and LR dealers.

But they both buy from the same manufacturer right?

Eg Britpart don't buy inferior versions from Manufacturer B whic are not to the same spec as Manufacturer A?

Therefore would it be correct to conclude that you are buying the same wheel from Paddock Spares/Britpart as fitted to a brand new Sawtooth equipped Defender from my local LR dealer? 2002MY Defender 90 H/T
