France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
An anomaly is (was?) that 11- and 12- seaters (i.e. 3 plus 3 bench seats in the back, as opposed to 2 plus 2 individuals) were counted as buses, didn't need SVA to register them, just ordinary MOT.

All the other requirements associated with importing a bus - hammers to smash the windows springs to mind - were exempted for "Land Rovers and vehicles manufactured by the Land Rover Company".

Of course, lights, speedo etc. had to be UK'd, but no faffing about with dangerous edges etc. that frequently failed even a bog-standard Land Rover presented for SVA.

So for UK registration, MOT and Insurance was all that was required...

But hard-tops and pick-ups? No idea.

England 2011 Defender 130 Puma 2.4 SW Bali Blue
I was involved with American imports a few years ago when the SVA test was valid and Dodge Rams and other trucks were really easy to get through the test, as long as they were re plated at 3500 kg and had no tow bars fitted.
It is a lot easier to buy something over 10 years old as it just needs an MOT. 90 300 TDI SW (sold)
