Honestly?
Cheap crappy chinese switch mode PSU with poor EMI performance, causing the noise. |

If you are not going to use it at the same time as the 12v socket, why not just plug a quality dual USB in?

In fairness not a cheap unit. and plugging in a unit to the lighter socket looks naff. Its never over in my land rover.

Got a link? To be honest, even a lot of the not cheap stuff often has poor EMI performance. Could be worth getting a replacement? Might be a build issue.

Just a thought - do you have the + a - crossed over?
No sure this would cause the problem but the USB device might have still work but cause problems? |

I bought a really low profile, dual plug in jobbie of ebay for Ł4 and it sits almost flush with the dash so looks (almost) OEM.
No interference either. |

this blue sea one, although not the cheapest, fits in the exact same hole as the standard 12v socket in the front dash, and has the same connections at the rear

That looks like a great bit of kit. Children were just asking how to charge the iPads in the vehicle. 1951 80" S1 2.0

Not fitted mine yet (haven't got the car yet!!) but have offered it up to the facia and it fits beautifully.
And at 2 x 2.1A will handle 2 iPad/iPhones at full power. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

If you're saying it a blue sea one you have then I suspect a fault, as they make great stuff.
Or maybe wire is excessively close to aerial? Or you have slightly pulled the aerial out of the back of the radio? Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I too have a blue sea one fitted to the side of my mud stuff dash pod (td5). When I have a phone on charge the radio signal drops off. As soon as I unplug the phone all is well.
I have a cheap twin USB into a ciggie socket just below the blue sea one and that is fine - no interference with the phone on charge, Both off the same power feed. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
