I'm not sure whether this is entirely relevant to the forum, but since there seem to be a lot of likeminded folks on here I thought I'd see if anyone is interested in my once used and literally as new Terra Nova Quasar, before I resort to eBay. I purchased this as I had always wanted one due to their bombproof reputation and the fact that they are widely regarded as the finest geodesic tent available, however this did not impress my girlfriend as she prefers five star hotels and the tent has only been used for one night on the Isle of Skye. It is as new with no marks or damage.

Have you considered the other option of keeping the tent and not the girlfriend?

That would certainly be the cheaper option! She is very excited about the prospect of a roof tent with a real double bed inside though so that is going to be the compromise! |

You may consider keeping the terra nova and taking it on some trips even when you have a roof tent for any occasions when high winds or similar make it prudent to be nearer the ground. We have an oz tent and love it but still take a terra nova polar 2 on bigger trips mainly for nights higher up the hill away from the Landy but also (though I have never actually had to do this) just in case in mountainous areas the wind makes a bigger flat sided tent unattractive.

If you are going down the roof tent route if might be worth keeping if for those campsites where you are staying a few days so you have somewhere to stow stuff and something that keeps your pitch if you are going out for a drive.

Thanks for the advice, that does make a lot of sense. Although in weather conditions like that I am sure that the girlfriend would give in way before the roof tent! I also have anther couple of tents and will be purchasing an awning for the maggiolina so hopefully that will be sufficient. Cheers |

Thanks Barbara, I am planning to purchase an awning/changing room for the maggiolina, which will ideally be free standing. Hopefully that will eradicate this situation? |
