ID numbers
Hi folks,

In June 2014 I bought 2 2008 2.4tdci Defenders from a mining company. They had never been registered for use on the road as they worked within a quarry until I purchased them.

After a fair bit of work we got them roadworthy and have been using them daily ever since. Last night the police arrived to inform me that as part of an investigation into a batch that came from the quarry they wanted me to take them both to the police workshop so they could check the I.D numbers on the axles, gearbox, chassis, transfer box and engine.

I duly obliged this morning with one of them. After an hour or so we (myself and the copper) were only able to locate the rear axle I.D, the chassis no and the transfer box no. I'll be taking the other one in tomorrow morning and wander if anyone could tell me where I will find:

The engine no
The gearbox number
Front axle number.

Preferably with pics if possible although anything would help, I been looking about on Google and can't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks.

I found them all bar the front axle which appears to be missing from both vehicles.

I found the numbers had been scrubbed off the axles of my Bowler because the red blaze brings we raced were sand blasting the axle cases. If your car has spent a lot of its time in an open cast mine the same thing may have happened Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon
