Hi
Had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago, 35 000 kms. The stealer in Maun could not find the issue, drove to Jo'burg (23 hours in limp mode ) and they too could not find the issue. They replaced some sensors. Continued on to Knysna where all was good for only 1 week. The chaps in George were the most helpful and after having the vehicle for 3 days managed to find the problem. There was a microscopic crack in one of the high pressure hoses, which was causing the sensor to get a below pressure reading, and forcing the limp mode to activate. I'd suggest when next you are near a workshop, get them to check the hoses. Hope this helps... take a peek at this thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42225....733a69b98c[/url] Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. Just had the same issues.
This is how it got sorted. 1: replaced MAF sensor (no change). 2: checked all hoses rhs of bonnet for cracks, splits or loose (no issues). 3: cracked Intercooler (on one of the welds) replaced, job sorted. Hope the above helps? WYL 2015 90 Keeper 2005 R300 Keeper 2019 XC40 Shopping Trolley 2008 110 XS Utility (Friday Build) Gone! |

Thank you WYL and bushpig. I was SO hoping it was just a sensor. Keeping my hopes up! But will definitely check the rest!

Hi Heinz, I was having the same issue just a few days before. Mine's a 2.2, too. Workshop identified loose sensor on bank 1. Sensor appeared in fault codes. Workshop said that loose DPF sensors are well known. Good luck! Juka |

Hello Kheinz & BushPig- new to the site here, but you guys look like prime suspects for my questions!
Me and the Missus are planning a move to the Walvis Bay area early next year- gonna take a condo at Langstrand it seems, and will be staying/playing for about a year or so. Tours into Botswana, Zambia, S Africa, along with excursions to the Namib Northwest. I've been looking at available used LRs for sale - got my eye on : 1.) 2012 Defender 2.2 w 88,000km (Windhoek), 2.) 2010 Disco 4 TDS w 82,000km (W Bay). Both are similar in price; of course the Disco is more comfy (cruise control option is VERY attractive!), but I did an extensive tour in 2011 w one of Asco's Defenders, and I've got to admit I'm a glutton for punishment. Could you please give me your insights on the draw-backs of each? Which will be liable to give me the least amount of grief? The 2011 I drove (pics here) was a TDi. I've heard pros/cons on the various Defender drive trains; the electronics issues scare the hell out of me for a Namibia vehicle. Can the Disco get me most anyplace I've listed above (although I prefer the traditional LR profile)? We're both truly excited to be coming your way. Thanks in advance- olecap |
