Central Locking/alarm
Hi,

Just finishing up an electric window retrofit and central locking on my base spec 2005 van but I am not very happy with the quality of the control unit for the locks (aftermarket). Would I be able to go down the route of buying a couple of genuine actuators, a secondhand 10AS unit and door looms for the locking/alarm? I have a rear door with everything there its just the wiring I need to work out. Is there a connection on the standard loom I can utilise anywhere? I have done a fair bit of reading but cannot find any specific information on exactly which bits are needed. I do have a nanocom if that is relevant.

I guess it would be:

a higher spec 10as unit (not sure which numbers to look for)

two genuine actuators

Remote fob things

loom attachments for the front doors and then the same for the rear.

Thanks for any help on this,

James

All that you list. Get a S/H bulkhead loom and extract the relevant wiring and yes you need a specific 10as unit with relay inside for central locking. Mod can be done, but I suggest plug and play is best if you can for majority of connections so its easier to trace any faults that may occur in the future.

I can do you the connectors to mate with the factory door harnesses, see here -

I can also supply the proper NEC relay to solder to the non central locking 10AS, to make it into a central locking 10AS -

As well as the additional terminals you'll need for the central locking and control circuits in the 10AS unit's Grey and Green connectors -

It's not difficult.

Just the relay and then because i didn't have the connectors i pulled out pin 2 and 3 thru a hole i made in the side of the 10AS. I already has some after market acuators on the doors, so i just used those to directly drive them.

You have another option if you don't want to add the relay but have after market central locking. if you have a 5 wire master acuator, you can also hook the signal that is used to drive the relay to the wires on the master acuator.

You will need a nanocom or similar to program the 10AS.

again not difficult if you know what you are doing. there's information on the blackbox diagnostic on what each of the functions do. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
