A couple of shots of the Alps in the past few days. The first was Christmas Day, taken from a piste-side restaurant that Mrs Grenadier and I drove to!!! It's a view of the Mont Blanc Massif (which itself looks 'patchy'). The roofs on the two chalets should be covered in two to three feet of snow. As should the cars and the grass in the distance.
Click image to enlarge The second photo was taken yesterday and shows the Victorian levels of smog that hit the Sallanches valley yesterday. Rumour had it that the pollution levels were akin to Beijing. You could taste and smell the pollution. Shocking. Well, no pollution or smog here in Geneva, even if we are not far away from you. Probably the french smog does not have a valid Swiss visa.
And the real good news is, it finally started raining here this morning, and forecast is for good amounts of rain virtually every day for the next two weeks, with highs in the lower single digits, so that must mean snow in the mountains. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/l/SZXX0013:1:SZ Eric You never actually own a Defender. Sallanches and Chamonix have a real problem. The tree-hungers blame the lorries going through the Tunnel du Mont Blanc, which do have an effect, but the main problem is with oil-fired central heating and open fires. In St Gervais itself we have no smog, very clear here once I drove out of the Sallanches Valley. As for the snow, 5-6 days (on and off) expected. As we are 'downwind' from you, I look forward to some snow this evening. I hope it's snow, we're at a winter BBQ with friends which won't be much fun if it's raining!! Monsieur Le Grenadier

The weather forecast does now promise dropping temperatures and snow.
Rain has finally arrived in Stuttgart, too. Never normally looking forward to cold weather, we are quite happy about seeing it right now. Hopefully that means less rain for the north of England..... 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Still no rain in the south of the Alps, we are now at about 2 month of dry.
