Heated Windscreen
Just been for my second main dealer service. I did this to maintain the warranty into the 3rd year, but it was eye wateringly expensive! I did get a lovely Range Rover as a courtesy car, but I could have rented a Range Rover for the day and got the service done at an independent for a much smaller total!

The one problem I mentioned to them was the heated windscreen has a 4 inch wide stripe that it doesn't clear right in front of the steering wheel. The dealer said they won't fix it because it was caused by stone chips.
There are no visible stone chips on the windscreen.
If you run fingers over the whole screen, there are a couple of places where you can feel slight imperfections in the screen (like tiny chips on the top layer), but they cannot be seen.
I was told to get the screen replaced by my insurance.
Autoglass are just going to laugh when I show it to them!

Anybody experienced this before?
I've owned from new, and only done about 8000 miles in two years. It's basically mint.

Yours frustratedly,

Mike

Clout the bottom corner with a ball pein hammer, then ring Autoglass - sorted Thumbs Up

Will only cost you your screen excess Cool Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

As per Dave.... guilty your honour!

Didn't even damage it and kept the old one on the principle that a few years down the line I'll have a spare and won't really be bovvered if there's a non-heated strip somewhere or uvver...

Yeah - it felt like that to me.
Other Ford vans with Quickclear have never failed either.

I've had some huge (MOT failure type) stone chips with radiating cracks and they've never affected the heating element.

Sounds like you should push back on that then - go back for the warranty again. Escalate it somehow if they don't give you a satisfactory response.

Mine also has some area's which won't clear out as fast as the overall part of the windscreen.... It just takes some more time. I thought that wasn't a big issue. puma 2.2 MY2013

you can get a new screen for £130 - they seem to enjoy arguing warranty claims just for the sake of it...you would think they would try and keep the customer happy.
