Next week will fly to Birmingham and take an afternoon Celebration tour.
As Birmingham is a first for me, so not familiar at all with the area, what is best way to get from airport to the factory entrance? Taxi? And what is the right entrance to go to, I remember having read somewhere that there is confusion about that sometimes. On the ticket I got in the mail is only written Land Rover Experience, Solihull, Lode Lane, B92 8NW. Thanks for some guidance, Eric You never actually own a Defender. I drive past them both daily on my way to work at Rolls-Royce in Birmmingham..
It's about 3 miles from the terminal building to B92 8NW so i think a taxi would be fine and not cost very much, I think if you give the taxi driver the postcode, or just ask him if he knows where it is i'm sure as you get close it will be well signed.. I've never been, but I would guess it's well signed anyway.. Depending on what time of day yo get there, the traffic shouldnt be too bad, although there is some road works on the A41 outside the Airport, I dont tend to get stuck in them, but I roll through there at 6.30am Good Luck, Let us know how deep your pockets are when you leave My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

Thanks Browny, matter of fact just now received a reminder e-mail from LRE. and in there they mention I should head for Gate D2....
As to how deep my pockets will be when I leave, well I purposely will fly with small hand luggage only. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Oops, no, don't have a visa.
Do you think if I put a few of these here in my passport I will get past Birmingham immigration? You never actually own a Defender. Anybody know which gate is D2 which they mentioned in todays e-mail reminder? Would that be the main gate?

Tks Roma, all clear now. Guess the taxi will find it.
Now, we are landing Birmingham at 10.00 hrs, so have a bit of time to kill before the 13.00 hours tour. Any suggestions about anything worthwhile to see in Solihull, maybe suggestion for a nice little bar/restaurant to have a light lunch before heading to gate D2? Or with that last question, is it better to reach for my hat now? Eric You never actually own a Defender.
