I second that question ....
![]() If you bought current edition of a mag - the one that has a free 12 month Britpart calendar - you would see Dec. my OMO trundling back to Switzerland, I was well chuffed to get printed but more chuffed to get a little spending money from Britpart ![]() I was torn between crystal halogens + bulb , leaving me with cash for a few other bobs, or costlier new fangled LED ![]() Any experience of Britparts LED (or, what would you do?) Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ... |

I recently swapped out the Wipac crystals with Nightbreaker H4īs for a brand new set of JW Evo IIīs in black, because I liked the "gothic" dark eyed look and the bright white dipped beams matching the previously fitted LED sidelights. I also fancied the integrated DRLīs.
The LED headlamps are good.... but not great. The light is whiter and further reaching than the H4īs, but the spread is patchy. When bumping around in the rough, or just winding down a green lane, the light beam is dancing, like from a 70īs disco ball. No flackering or loose mountings involved. It is just the nature of the beast. What I am saying, is donīt underestimate how good the H4īs are, and fine for our vehicle, with their 90 or so mph top speed. Bang for the buck, I still regard the crystal lenses with Nightbreakers and a relayed loom to be the best headlamp upgrade for the Defender. They will remain boxed up for a later date, īcos I still enjoy the look of the LEDīs, now I have them..... ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Thanks, reason for asking is lots of info about the other makes but very little on the Lynx Eye
Also they seem to be better value at Ģ320 a pair with good stats I currently have upgraded H4 in the standard lamp, but having come from Xenons on a Golf I'd quite like a bit better light output! Might try get to see some Lynx eyes for sale in a shop and have a look at the build quality -2015 Defender 90 XS Landmark- |

A few observations. Based solely on the description.
No IP rating?? This I find surprising! No mention if these lights are RHD (UK SPEC) or LHD (European Spec) These headlights are DOT and E marked approved?? Really? A DOT approved headlight is NOT legal in Europe! Wrong beam pattern. Now it could be that they have two versions one DOT approved and a second version that is E marked. Lumen figures could be more specific. H4 connector is on a fly lead. Why? Means a connector is floating 'loose' Defender cabling is long enough to have fixed H4 connector on headlight as per orgiinal fitment. Brendan Now it could possibly be just be poor copy writing but ....... |

Being Britpart I wouldn't be surprised if they emitted darkness rather than light.

Thanks Brendan, some good points, I had spotted the lack of IP rating which is a little worrying.
Must admit I have been eyeing up the Noldens but was just a little put off by the price. Also can't seem to find any pictures of the beam pattern/spread. The set up I have with the standard headlights and Philips +130% bulbs is pretty good so wondering if the Wipac Crystal headlights may be the way forward...... but then again they are not LEDs!! -2015 Defender 90 XS Landmark- |

I have a cunning plan to take photos over the 'quiet period' over Christmas but I have a sneaky suspicion that the quiet period is going to be a tad raucous!
We also had a cunning plan to move into a new warehouse over the quiet period - somehow I don't think that is going to happen either. Barbara |

Having just changed to Wipac crystals with Osram Nightbreakers and driven around 500 dark miles since (mix of m-way, A-road and unlit rural) they are sufficient for all I need. Cheers, Guy.
