I had the same problem with my old TDi.
The pressure inside the manifold fluctuates at a very fast rate and produces a wobbly needle that makes accurate reading impossible. There is a little device that can be connected in line with the pressure hose - sadly I can't recall what it is called! It allows boost pressure to reach the guage, but it stabilises the pressure so the needle is slower to react to changes. When I fitted a boost gauge I had exactly the same problem, wobbly needle.
I got the little tube off a WD40 can and put that inside the pipe to the gauge and then tied it really tight with a tie wrap to make sure the air had to go through the little tube. The result was a dead steady needle ![]() Last edited by TiredGeek on 11th Dec 2015 8:01pm. Edited 1 time in total |
