Saw an interesting mod today, sadly unable to photograph as I was driving, but it was a Puma 110SW and the owner had mounted a new filler cap (looked like a motorcycle filler cap, with Allen bolts, a lockable latch and flip-down cover, as per photo) to the rear right panel of his truck, located between the quarter glass and the Defender logo below it. The original filler cap and port had been capped off. Anyone seen this mod before? Looked on Google for an example, but couldn't find any.

It is offered by Ex-tec, as part of their long range tank kit for a 110. Adds 45 Liters to your fuel capacity. The factory tanks feeds into the new stainless one, which is filled directly from the new filler you described.
Click image to enlarge Herīs the link.... http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http...0QrQMIMDAG There are various UK based suppliers of the same filler assembly, if you only wanted the "aerospace/racecar" look filler cap. Now I am interested to see the comments on this........ 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Good morning steventheplumber. You donīt need to go that far to get a great looking cap for your Landy.
Look local....in this case, Kent. Here you go.... http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/aero-style-fuel-caps Stephen 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Thanks for the info WC90. And, ummm, am I allowed to say I like the look and might soon waste Ģ40 making the upgrade. Maybe it's the biker in me? Or the perfectionist. If many of us make an effort to improve the look of our Defenders, some obsessively so, the bog-basic plastic OE cap is a bit rubbish. Front to back we have Bowler this, SVX that, bit of Entreq, but of Lazer, and a dash of Recaro and then a big, black lump of plastic.... http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/f...iller-caps I had one that look just like this on my Caterham but in black which personally I think would look better still. http://www.rallynuts.com/motorsport-fuel-c...l-cap.html |

I have been toying with the idea of fitting one of these for a while.
Havenīt jumped at it yet, because there are a couple of issues to clear up. There are several sizes and designs to choose from. It has to be a locking cap, and it has to vented. I like the look of this one. http://www.sandtler24.de/sandtler/140503/t...hloss.html Smaller diameter, and the lock is hidden under the release lever. Here we go - the full package - locking, smaller diameter, including vented cap and neck. http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/94mm...ck-package But costs a pretty penny.....to replace one of the few items on a Defender, that generally does work quite well in the first place...... 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |
