I have managed kick up a large log when off roading into the nearside rear outrigger of my new 110 station wagon. The outrigger is bent but it has not torn any of the weld with the chassis. It is the outrigger that is near the B pillar. Has anybody managed to bend one of these back into shape. I am really wanting to avoid replacing it as it seems a big job. Nearly just got a mallet and a piece of wood at it and then thought otherwise. Any advise would be appreciated. '65' plate Defender XS 110 Station Wagon

I would start with a big hammer and piece of wood.
To be honest outriggers are really the easiest thing to weld chassis wise on a defender as you can cut them off nice and flush and then re-weld along the cut lines. You could get it done by a really good local welder for under £150 I reckon. Alternatively, its not causing any damage while bent and not effecting anything else I'd just leave it alone Good Luck Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Find someone with a porta power body straightening kit and gently ease it back into position.

How bent is it? Can you get a photo?
It is easier to advise when the damage can be seen! |
