2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Alpine White

Bent Rear Outrigger

I have managed kick up a large log when off roading into the nearside rear outrigger of my new 110 station wagon. The outrigger is bent but it has not torn any of the weld with the chassis. It is the outrigger that is near the B pillar. Has anybody managed to bend one of these back into shape. I am really wanting to avoid replacing it as it seems a big job. Nearly just got a mallet and a piece of wood at it and then thought otherwise. Any advise would be appreciated. '65' plate Defender XS 110 Station Wagon

I would start with a big hammer and piece of wood.

To be honest outriggers are really the easiest thing to weld chassis wise on a defender as you can cut them off nice and flush and then re-weld along the cut lines.

You could get it done by a really good local welder for under £150 I reckon.

Alternatively, its not causing any damage while bent and not effecting anything else I'd just leave it alone

Find someone with a porta power body straightening kit and gently ease it back into position.

If you push it correctly with the right shape block of wood behind the ram it should go back without much evidence of damage.

I'd try and get it back in place, maybe a ratchet wrap maybe of use somehow?
If anything does go you could get it re-welded and rustproofed over.

I had similar a couple of years ago but was plastic wheel arch related but the same scenario only a branch.

It is easier to advise when the damage can be seen!
