Can't believe I haven't got a thread on here about my 90
As some of you will know, my 90 was rebuilt by me from a TD hardtop some 13 years ago to an NAS-type soft top. I then fitted a Td5 engine in 2002. It's now feeling and showing it's age a little but is still great fun whether or not the roof is off 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

You must have been one of the first to retrofit a TD5 back then

Yep, everyone said it couldn't be done (even very senior automotive industry engineers)
AFAIK only Warwick 4x4 (now gone) were doing one at the same time (into an RRC) but they couldn't get it sorted. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I remember reading your build up article on your site, and thinking "wow, aren't Td5s complicated..."
Having done 3 of them now, they're a doddle! (although I did my first one in 2008/9 so parts were easily available then) I can't imagine how much hassle it must have been for you without the likes of nanocoms or other ECU programmers, trapsing to and fro from your dealership. |

No, it's a BMW colour from their "Individual" (like Autobiography) range around the year 2000. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

really like that, makes me want to take the roof off our series in the summer and rag about in it.
saying that, ive spent 3 months out of florida visiting Jamaica, Haiti Mexico then 2 months out of barca doing Italy and the riviera so might be in for a shock when i return to uk weather... |

Long overdue an update about the soft top but it is now on its Puma axles and has the XS seats fitted (need wiring). I have also swapped wheel/tyres between the two 90s so it is currently on the Boosts and Conti tyres.
A friend borrowed it over the weekend to carry a single scull Click image to enlarge Think that's pretty cool 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
