United Kingdom 2006 Defender 90 Td5 PU Epsom Green
Defender 90 suspension advice
Got a 2006 td5 90 pick up and need to change the suspension from the factory fit to something a little more "comfortable". The ride at the moment is fairly bad. Abysmal driving in bumpy conditions and not great handling on the road either. The actual "shock absorber" ride is harsh and uncomfortable and the vehicle is too wallowy on corners etc.

I use it on road a lot and offroad for general play days and driving around farms and tracks and greenlanes. I plan to fit a winch later on with a bumper and carry the usual socket set, basic tools and recovery gear in the back. I do occasionally have to carry wood around for my fire and the dogs and shooting equipment also get driven around in the back.

This is my first 90 and I need some advice. I was going to get heavy duty springs but my local dealer informs me that they don't do a set for the front. I had HD genuine springs on my double cab and found it worked very well with the original dampers.

I don't mind a slight lift but would ideally like to avoid getting into extended hoses and castor correction stuff with double cardon props again if I can.

I have already ruled out procomp due to the horror stories about things snapping off and britpart are out too. Any advice is welcome here and I would be really interested to hear from anyone with a 90 with HD suspension on it aa to how they find the drive.

If you want any more information just ask.

bear in mind Terrafirma are copies of other manufacturers so also look at who they have copied.

OME work well, thats where my money would always go based on current experience.

Procomp work well and are cheap but dont last long in my experience, oil seeps from them, yes i know lifteime warranty and all that but constantly changing them is a pain.

TJM also work well, have them on the rear of one of mine, on a par with OME Cheers

most things from most people as i believe it looking through their cat.

Not to say what they produce isn't good, it is, its just more than likely copied. Cheers

jst, that's a potentially libellous statement mate. I don't mean to tell how you to suck eggs etc but anyone can read these forums and someone at TF may get mightily upset reading that.

its a shame that the truth hurts gwyn lewis setup has been copied exstensivly ?

and im not ashamed to say it

it takes companys years to produce a good set up then seconds for someone to copy it because they cant develop it ?

ome every time more exspensive but well worth it just buy it once and ull be happy
