Junior Quads, anyone?
Been running around looking at plenty of examples. 2 lads are 8 and 6yrs old, and I think the little 50cc's will be quickly out grown so I thinking of 90cc restricted back. I found loads of cheaper options but to be honest some of them are made of cheese, on one the thumb throttle was rattling about even after we tried to secure it in the shop. I kinda narrowed it down to these 2:

Quadzilla r100 2015: 100cc 2 stroke, but limited suppliers etc here in NI, not that they need much maintenance. It's quite chunky, maybe a tad big.

Suzuki Quadsport LT90-r 2015: replacement for the great LT80 2 stroke...super build, dealer support and advice, 40% more ££. Also feels slightly more compact than the quadzilla

Anybody any experience of either?

My daughters previous Suzuki LT - older 2 stroke - was absolutely bomb proof. 4 years of ownership and not one single issue other than an occasional flat tyre. Didn't lose much in value either but it was only the LT-50.

I couldn't justify the price of a Suzuki / Polaris etc when we bought her the 125 as it won't be long before she'll be onto a full sized machine and she can have my current one (looking forward to a UTV for ME Thumbs Up )

So, we ordered one of the chinese versions with farm-style racks etc and the engine is based on the old Honda CG125 unit.
As you say - it is actually made from cheese Big Cry . Within a month the rear bearings had failed and when it first came the front drum brakes were oiled - on the inside Shocked

The only good thing about it's weakness is when we had a break in and they tried to steal it the internal starter drive chain snapped so they abandoned it at the end of the lane.

Despite the supplier promising good spares back-up they've been unable to supply anything to help - and they aren't interested at all!!!

All in all it's cost about £50 to keep running in the last 2 years plus fuel (it's very economical!!!) but.......I really wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

So, my advise would be - if you can justify it go for the Suzuki as you'll never need spares from the excellent dealer network and you won't lose as much money on it as you think. If you can't or the Quadzilla price is too good to miss then you won't go far wrong with it but expect a wee bit more maintenance.

I know of a full size Quadzilla near here and the farmer certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone as it's forever having issues (18 months old now) but then again he is a farmer who only understands the different sizes of hammers when it come to maintenance Very Happy

Thanks for the info! My gut is telling me to go for the Suzuki, the quadzilla is coming out £1550 due to carriage with NI, Suzuki £2350 with some family discount. Andy

Clucking Bell Shocked certainly not cheapies then. Thumbs Up

I reckon you can do alot with the Quadzilla for the difference but ........ it'll never be a Suzuki Bow down

Good luck with your decision.

Incidentally, have you checked out the Polaris youths range? Not sure what the dealer network in NI is like but around here it's probably got better coverage than Suzuki (just not the same quality as most are agricultural dealers).

I have had more people telling me, "oh take this wee 110cc for 600quid, never gives any bother" these are guys bringing in containers of cheap machines, and then they wash there hands of them with only 6 months warranty. Can't be bothered with hassle! Going to look a used Suzuki this morning, might be a good option also. The Polaris as you say do get a good name, dealer I am heading to does them so will ask.. Thumbs Up Andy

Deal done on the new Suzuki, getting wider rear tyres fitted and the wheels sprayed black! Great wee machine...they also had lots of sold used quads, couldn't believe the money they were getting but at least I got To try all sorts in one place.

As an EX Quadzilla dealer you made the right choice. They are so shocking quality.

Yeah, and the R100 isn't exactly cheap either, it's bad enough having to keep the defender from falling apart.! Spoke to a load of people that have got recent junior quads and so many are sitting in the garage with something broken. The Suzuki dealer is 20mins up the road, dedicated Quad garage so was really a no brainier in the end. Andy

Here is a pic to give an idea of the scale of the LT90, the pictures always make them look smaller i find. Did a few laps today myself, great going wee thing!
