Thoughts on this......
So put the deposit down on the Defender 2 on Monday. They got it out the compound yesterday so I could check it over. There is a bad blemish in the leather on the front left seat. I pointed it out to the sales guy who has acknowledged it and said that yes that's not right. I said to them that I wanted it to be rectified before I pick it up. They've said that they could change the seat cover but that they would have to fill out a FRED form (?) and that Land Rover won't let me pick the car up til its rectified. Secondly, they've said that putting a new cover on may actually not look as good as the seat is now with the blemish (!?).

What do people think? Blemish or a badly fitted seat cover? Is it really that hard to make a seat cover fit nicely? And why do you think LR wouldn't let me pick the car up til they have fixed it? Surely they could make a commitment to fix it say next week?

Is it new or used ?
Personally I would want them to replace it or if it doesn't match replace both to a matching pair

If you think you are being messed about drop Ryan @ LandRover a PM with your concerns.

In my opinion it should be put right and you should not be fobbed off with an admission of "it may not be repaired properly" Rolling Eyes  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Dropped Ryan an email so lets see what his thoughts are. If they could fit a new seat cover to the same standard as out the factory then I'd be happy. I just don't fancy paying 30K+ for a car and having either a blemish OR a baggy seat cover! And also don't want to have to wait another 2 weeks whilst they sort it out! I feel like a child whose just been told Christmas is moved by 2 weeks Sad

The current batch of "premium" seats do very much look just like seat covers. I was looking in the main dealer at two examples and the leather on both was baggy on the seat backs. It's a cost thing but the leather is not sewn/fixed onto the seats in the way it is in other cars I have had.

Having said that, I think even the high end FFRR and RRS are only covers designed to be removed relatively easily.

If it's done neatly, and that's not that hard, then the OP or anyone else will not know it's been done.

Completely agree. Don't take it unless you're satisfied.

On another note I did read somewhere recently that the car industry had come under pressure from the Insurance industry Twisted Evil to reduce the cost of replacing a car interior - apparently too many Range Rovers et al were being written off following a low speed collision (negligible exterior damage) where all of the airbags had deployed and destroyed seats, dash, door linings/pillars etc. Maybe the explanation of why new RR/RRS seats look like seat covers? Have had a good message from the dealer manager who has said that they will make it look like new and it will be well fitted. Still now working out if I can collect it this week or if it has to be fixed before handover.

Don't settle for anything less that a new seat. Also make sure your dealer gives you a car to use from your pick up date.

We had a new Disco 4 for 2 weeks while our issue (on a new Disco Sport) was being resolved.

In the end LR couldn't apply the fix to our car in a reasonable time so we cancelled our order and got a full refund.

And bought a Disco 4 - as we loved the one we were given temporarily!! 2002MY Defender 90 H/T
