Doesn't surprise me, they've not impressed me at all with excuses for why they won't pay a clear warranty issue. 2.2 90 XS

no sure what sort of paint issues you've got?
no excuse at Ł50+k but for example mine had several nicks and marks here and there which had been touched up with a paint brush - kind of put it down to the hand assembly process and left it at that - but clearly I paid a whole lot less for mine. on another note - still think LR have missed a trick in terms of turning the defender into a kit car for home assembly with would possibly help iron out all the 'problems' and keep the some more of the work force employed AND retain the only truly icon motor that they produce. hope you get it sorted. |

Sorry but that has to be the single worst response ever to a situation like this!!!! The OP has already stated his value to the brand and his disappointment and the best LRCR can come up with is this??? Disgraceful IMHO! |

Riccarton I think your response was actually the worst here.
I think it was good of Ryan to offer assistance/advice given that the issue seems to be already resolved by the dealer. Ryan was polite and courteous and willing to chase up any problems that were unresolved! I personally would think you should apologise! You got that one very wrong mate. And griffman, hope your issue is resolved and the car is as good as you hoped if not better!
Land Rovers do sometimes test the patience but when all's well again there's nothing that comes close! There's far too many cars around that are boring, efficient, reliable and characterless. We must cling on to those that make you smile Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

looks like I'm not alone... we received a terrible one (albeit not a Autobiography) but still a brand new vehicle we intended to keep for the long run.
Don't even want to send it back to the bodyshop as the other car has been back and forward because of there bodged repairs, only last week i picked it up after having the window surround re-sprayed (3rd time) to drive home in the dry, next day in the wet with salt on the road no washers.... only another 140mile round trip to have it sorted. |

As well as the paint defects there are lots of other issues
The rear corner is not square on the drivers side top section The doors don't close properly The suage lines along both sides don"t line up The radio has stopped working The 'factory' tow bar is too high for a standard-height trailer I am struggling to get 15 mpg Other as well |

Ok, fair enough. Ryan, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for my post and I'm sorry to anyone else it may have caused offence to. At the time I didn't actually think it was offensive, more just an observation at a standard response to what seemed like a situation that desserved more. From previous correspondance you're well aware of my disappointment with LR products I've bought and the exceptionally poor service I've recieved from my nearest MD and perhaps this frustration had an effect on my wording. So, sorry if I caused offence - that was not my intention. |

It was nice to see Ryan reply to a post .
The problem is defenders are a crap product . They are a hand built car on a out dated production line . The build and paint is terrible compared to other manufacturers. I got mine 14 moths ago and it's shocking for a Ł37k car but I excepted it as it's no more than a jazzed up work horse . Designed and built for farmers and utility company's It's slow , it rattles, it leaks , nothing fits and the panel gaps are shocking ... But I love it |

Don't apologise mate - you are fully entitled to sound off
Whole point of forums like this is it not? My main concern - despite harwoods bending over both backwards and forwards to resolve the paintwork - is that the car was allowed to leave the factory in that condition. The matte grey paint looked as if it had been put on by an apprentice on his first day - lines of lighter and darker shadows and uneven lacquer. It was even more galling that they charged me 3k for the privelige I have sent Ryan a pm - let us see if he is as good as his word |

I wonder what would happen if you sent it back and asked for another?... Would LR be expected to replace like for like?... Could they, given the limited edition of the AB?

And if they did you would get another Defender that leaks, panels not lined up and with dodgy paintwork. Usually the motto is 'you get what you pay for', except in a Defenders case you get what you expect, as long as you do not expect too much.
