They are not loosing the plot they are doing what they have done best for the last few years........

...sell a LOT of vehicles by changing to market demand.

If all Land Rover did was just rugged off-road Defenders, they would of been bankrupt before Tata bought them.

These will sell like hot cakes which is all good for more R&D into the Defender's replacement.

Also, don't forget, although most LRs are wasted these days, they still have all the technology under the skin. The reason the Convertible has been so long in coming out is because they've had stiffness issues.

The Evoque has one of the stiffest small SUV chassis on the market and LR were not happy with it when they took the roof off. This is why it was originally canned, however, now they have addresses that issue, I suspect it'll still be quite a capable machine if it was to by used off-road.

It also won't look like that either as that is pre-face lift and it won't come out until after the face lift has been released.

Would I buy one? Yes, but only if LR could guarantee that everytime I drove it, the sun would be out as like most ragtops, it looks a bit pants with the roof up.

People keep saying that LR are loosing their way, no, not really, it's just that most people don't want to buy a square or rectangle anymore. Craig Rogers

Joke about is much as you want, but this is a very well crafted, designed and engineered piece of equipment. And trust me, it will sell well!

I've spent this morning looking round it, and even I'm impressed with its design! I wouldn't buy one (I'd never have a convertible!!), but I wouldn't look down on anyone for doing so! An engine to TDi for!

Funny thing is, that's not using the new MY16 face-lift Whistle

Rather tacky advertising - but then maybe it matches the product and the target audience:
