Puma remap....?
Looking to remap my Defender when it arrives, and I get some miles on it....!

Has anyone had any problems with the remap, or with Land Rover ie:- warrenty work etc....!

I looking at remaping it and leaving it, not putting it on and off with one of the hand held things....!

Any thoughts would be great..

Cheers

I am not an expert (there are some on here though) but the dealers I use will not honour the warranty if a remap is fitted. This is why I use one with a box so I can simply down load it or up load it when required, takes about 5 mins. I think but stand to be corrected that if you have a remap and the dealers down load a update the remap will not work but others will put you right on this.

What The Boy says Thumbs Up Land Rover will void the warranty if you have a remap. Get the box from Pete

here you can then remove the remap when required. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

I know what you mean about the box, but does the car not count how many times the OBD port has been used. So Land Rover know as the counter on the OBD tells them....

I'm not really sure, but I have read on other cars this happens....!

I contacted DMS about a remap, and they say Land Rover can not tell if it is remapped etc.... But sure it removes the limiter....

Not sure which route to go...!

Hi

NO flash markers are left in the ecu with my interface, the speed limiter is removed where possibile for free along with the tuning.

The main thing to remember is when using the BAS remap interface, if you go to the dealers for ANY work return the car to standard first then the dealer can not tell its ever been touched, and in the instance that the dealer makes a upgrade the BAS interface can be erased and reused.

The dealers have access to oscilloscopes so testing and injector pluse width will tell them in 5 seconds if its tuned. also as Andrews said, they only need to drive it and they could tell.

The box still has a few more weeks left at the offer price of £499 all in with free UK mainland delivery £519 to Europe.

Done 20k on BAS re-map with no issues whatsoever just miles with smiles, I'm lucky with my dealer they don't seem to care and have done work under warranty with no issues though apart from a clutch most has been minor. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

My dealer asks me if there is a remap before doing any ECU upgrade - they say that they don't want to override the remap.

Not sure how they would handle warranty work + remap - I will ask them next time I visit.

Pete, I just had a look on your website and the price is £645???

When I picked up my defender I had a quick chat with the dealer about voiding the warranty and his words were

"people tend to remap the ecu but every time the vehicals come in we will hook them up to the computer and they will then leave here as standard as they did when you bought it, I do however have on customer who has a range of vehicals and the tuning mech comes and re-tunes all the vehicals free of charge after they are seviced before the customer collects them!". Russell

24000 miles on BAS MAP from new, totally happy, childs play to return to standard before going to see the dealer, cruise at 80/85 at about 2500 rpm, romps up motorway hills in sixth, smooth power all through the range, mid range grunt nest of all...

Companies that dont offer a tuning box for the customer will replace the tune FOC, the down side to this is you have to take the vehicle back to their premises or wait for a mobile teccy to come to you.

If you do get a tuning box it is very important to remove the tune before the vehicle goes to the dealer, even if it goes in to have the wiper blades changed.
I know someone that did this, whilst the re-mapped car was in the dealers. the teccy checked to see if there were any updates required for the vehicle. As it turned out there was, not realising that the tune was on the vehicle they up dated the software thus overriding the tune.
No big problem for the tuning company as they could replace the tune FOC, however the tuning tool is now "locked out". Basically the box has a licence for that car and its re-map, the re-map left the box and is loaded onto the car and the box knows this. So when I er my friend got the car back thats now standard but up dated the tuning box says no as its now looking at a standard car however it thinks its tuned.
If my friend Whistle had put the vehicle back to standard before the visit to the dealer and upon its return I er he could have up laded the new standard map onto the box thus overriding the old standard map. Then he would have the new standard tune and the re-map on the box.
Did that make sense?

Or
The tuning box has 2 or 3 maps on it, Standard Half and Full. If the Half or Full leave the box it logs this. It does this to prevent someone that has a box re-mapping other cars. If you plug the box into a pc you can see if the re-map is on the car. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile
