United Kingdom 2003 Defender 90 Td5 HT Belize Green
Fitting Rear Seats into 90
I'm looking at the options of putting seats into the back of our 90 (2003). Initially the idea was to convert her to CSW spec with the 4 inward facing seats (as we have 4 children between me and my partner) Having now read up on the dangers and injury caused if children are sat sideways during an impact I'm now questioning what to do. Logic would be changing to a 110 (which isn't an option) so its now a choice between risking using inward facing seat for the times the kids are out with us at weekends (Disco 3 is the everyday motor) or go down the safe route of fitting x2 forward facing seats. Looking around at the forward facing seats and cost, has anybody had experience of using some ex mini bus folding seats that use integral inertia seat belts which seem to be available at a reasonable cost?

All suggestions welcome but the children health has to be my number 1 priority so no real easy answer without loosing a few children!! Big Cry

Hold out for some LR seats. Look at my old build, I put them in and also modified the seat boxes ( although this is not really needed if you don't mind the seat sitting a little higher).. My install was inspected and approved by 2 insurance companies. Andy

Years ago adding seats from other vehicles was common but these days we are all more aware of insurance and health & safety implications etc. If they were my kids I'd be looking into fitting specifically designed aftermarket seats, seatbelts and mounting points properly designed for the application such as those available from Exmoor Trim. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
