speaker location and size?
Hey peeps, just changed the headlining in my 84 110CSW and thus habe a blank canvas as the front speakers were in the front roof lining. There is no dash cutouts for speakers either.

Want some rear speakers as well so here is my questions, Dont need BOSE quality just want to listen to tunes

1 should I fit speakers in the front headlining just infront of the B pillar

2 Where should I fit the rear speakers ? In LR / Mudstuff panels or in the panel above the rear door

3 what size is a good size to use??

Hi, in my experience speakers in the headlining don't sound great. One of them is too close to your ears and the sound becomes tiring after a while. I'd also be reluctant to cut a new headlining, ruining it

For the front, you could try either the dash or doors. I don't think Landrover ever got the front speakers right in the dash, pointing down at your knees. Pods on the doors might work well if you're happy to make and fit them - or modify the doors and fit them directly.

Rear, Mudstuff or standard panels would be the easiest option.

I would use 5 1/4" speakers minimum, much better than 4". The rear Mud panels will take 5 1/4 without having to modify them. Larger sizes can be fitted front or rear, as mentioned elsewhere on here, but it will be more work.

To be hounest I found the sound of the headliner soeakers better than the footwell ones on my old 90 but then they were original lr ones. Dont think either side of my dash has speaker cut outs Crying or Very sad

Mine is an 84 and thus one year only lift up handle one piece doors which causes an issue as I cant use the nice two pice door card with speaker inserts and later ones dont fit Confused Confused

Think I will go for the MUD ones then as they do seem nice just need to work out the front, headliner is easier to replace than dash and also easier to cut
