loose door handles
A couple of months ago 1 of the screws fell out of my drivers door handle, today I noticed that the passengers side one was loose. So this is a warning to all, if you notice your door handle is loose tighten the screws before they fall out.

the fix

tools = philips screw driver, torx t20 driver, trim tools or suitable alternative, 2mm pin or equivalent

1/ remove the door closer handle (philips screw driver)
2/ remove the door release handle back plate (philips screw driver)
3/ push the pins into the two trim clips at diagonal opposite corners of the door, (do not push them right through)
4/ pull the door card off carefully it has fir tree type clips top, bottom and rear edge, work it around the door release handle and door lock plunger
5/ Poke a hole through the foam and plastic sheet in line with the door handle screws and then tighten them
6/ I then smeared silicone sealant on the screw heads/door panel to stop them coming undone again.
7/ tape over the 2 holes

refit is reverse of removal, guide the door panel over the release lever and lock plunger and the cable guide rubber

note it is much easier to do this before the screw has fallen right out, if it (they) have fallen right out recovering them from the bottom of the door generally involved the use of a magnet, or damage to the foam door liner .

total time 30 mins per side DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy
