2015 Defender Nearside Speaker Wiring Missing?!
Hi,

This is my first post! I tried searching but couldn't find anything!

I've just picked up a new Defender 110 Station Wagon. It didn't come with a stereo, but was supposedly "stereo prepared". I've fitted the driver's/offside speaker, but after hours of searching, I can't find the wires for the passenger side speaker anywhere! There is a little black (Molex or similar) connector taped up on the loom near to where I would expect to find the speaker wire, but spade connectors like those on the drivers side are nowhere to be seen!

I've spoken to Land Rover and they didn't know what I was talking about, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.

Derek.

Wire colours is really the only way to identify what you are after...

Front RH side colours are Black with pink and Black with red.
Front LH side colours are Black with white and Black with brown.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reply.

That is interesting because the 3 pin plug has those colours going to it! Is it likely they'd fit a different type of plug instead of spade terminals on one side? Also, the o/s wiring has 4 wires going to the spade terminals (2 of the same colour on each spade) which I believe is for the (non existent) tweeter. However, the n/s has only the 2 wires to this little plug.
I've attached a picture of the plug in question.

Thanks again.

Derek

The connector you've found is for the tweeter, trace its wires back, and you should find the spade terminals for the speaker (probably taped to the harness).

The front speaker wiring is like this -

Agree with Paul, you have found the tweeter plug so you will have the spades terminals in there somewhere. Happy hunting Wink  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Found it!! Very Happy Just finished. Thanks Martin and Paul. The wires were located taped to the bar near the bulkhead behind the passenger cubby/shelf. Great position!! Impossible to reach as the wiper motor was right in the way! Took the tweeter grill and passenger grab handle off and with judicious use of a bent coat hanger and some duck tape finally managed to get the tape off the wires!! Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks again.

Derek.
