It's funny that all the Series trucks are nice and original, yet all the Defenders are covered in stickers and bolt on crap.

I think in 20 or so years time a standard Defender will be a rare sight?
And people will be trying to find and replace the parts that were binned to start with! Bit like the classic RRs now! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Just look at the rising prices of rostyles for early RR's and V8 90's&110's. They are the new Sawtooths 1951 80" S1 2.0

Exactly!
1995 I restored a 1974 2 door Range Rover, I rescued it from a breakers yard, when they were easy to find, parts no problem. It was to say the least VERY ROTTEN! I took the body off the chassis, and spent literally months rebuilding the chassis and body shell. All the old parts were binned, interior trim, seats, grille, lights, pair of ok doors, original glass, Steel wheels, every thing that's hard to get hold of now basicly! I upgraded everything to the late spec. New interior, new vogue alloys, etc It was a lovely RR finished in Ardeness metallic green. It makes me quite sad now, thinking of what I threw away, and replaced, and seeing what they fetch, I know we can't dwell on the past, but we should give these Defenders a bit more thought. I know people will say there are 10000s out there, but remember the old 2 door RR weren't exactly rare until a few years ago! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I had an original Overfinch Range Rover (before they traded in cheese)... 5.7 auto, big brakes, steel bumpers, painted in Aston Martin Sage Green, it was a beaut, front hidden winch, it flew...would love to find that now..
The problem with them is that they rot so bad. Imagine how many were bobtailed around 20 years ago! I also had a 2 door and scrapped the body to build an 80" CCVT motor ! |
