Have a look at that, compare spec with what you want and check for the best price on the net. The hands free Siri commands look interesting I must say. |

Looks very interesting; thanks If the App Radio Mode works with Tom Tom on an iPhone, that would solve the Sat Nav. Alas it has no DAB though :-/ Cheers |

Yes, unfortunately a lot of the single din flip out HU's do not have DAB.
Most 2din versions do, most of the market is going 2din which is very costly in a Defender and in my opinion I'm not sure it suits but I'm sure I'd get used to it. Currently I have my Kenwood. Only use for music and BT, not DAB and the Sat Nav at£400 is far to expensive |

I can't see the point in DAB myself.
Why roll it out if most things on the market and manufacturers can't move over to it. |

The big issue that I see with most fancy head units is you're spending a lot of money to get something that an Android tablet plus a basic head unit with an aux in will do better and cheaper. Once you've got a decent tablet mount, you can then easily and cheaply replace/update the "brains" and take it away for security.

From memory, I think there's a distressingly expensive Clarion which does some of this... 502Z or something? I don't think it's DAB though. The issue is that to get a screen worth having in a single DIN unit means a folding one and I think the mechanisms for this are complicated and fiddly so manufacturers are ditching them to make way for larger solid state units with touch screens. |

I agree that it's ludicrous that every radio sold now doesn't have DAB. I know some areas are better than others, but I really love listening to DAB as I drive around the country. Crystal clear. |

Agree about the tablet, you can get a full size iPad for approx £4 - £500 to use anywhere home and out too if you like. Then carry it if you need to.
BT streaming also works well. Pity there isn't a dash you can just plug and clip and iPad or tablet into and use that simple as.. |

If you were interested in smartphone / iPad use then Mud are doing them and the sale makes it sweeter.
Pity it's at the wrong time for me too. http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/ram-mounts.html |

Cheers. I'll be using my iPhone and prefer the Brodit holders. I do really want to add DAB too, so my search will continue. Do have a feeling I don't have any choice but to do double din, which means cost, which means I shall have to hold off for a while!
