Felt washer-LT230
I never got why a felt washer between the nut (and steel washer) and either output shaft will work to seal oil coming through a shaft splines. To me they seem permeable....... Rolling Eyes Puma 110" SW

Fibre washers absorb the fluid, which then makes the washer swell up and tighten it's fit.

It's an ancient technique really, but it works. It's the same principle used for caulking the hulls of old wooden ships with rope hammered into joints, it swells up and seals the joints.
