I had Cooper STTs and swapped to BFG KMs. The Coopers are horrendously noisy in comparison.
Same question's been asked before...more than once. ![]() http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic23315.html?highlight=km2s http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic13269.html?highlight=km2s If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I took Goodyear T's off and put Cooper STT's on K9F is correct they are noisy but they have transformed the ride on my 90. I didn't want BFG's this time I've had them on three other vehicle BUT they might go on another non Land Rover 4x4 that I've just acquired if I can afford 5 35x13.50x15's when I'v sorted the motor out.
I like the STT's I went for 235x85x16 You pays your money and makes your choice Uncas |

Ran BFG and STTs - not much difference in my experience - both last well, strong side walls - dont understand the noise comment - my STTs sound the same as BFG MTs. Just buying more STTs for our 80 Series Cruiser....

I've had BFG MTs previously. This time I bought Cooper STTs. Within 2 months I had slashed one sidewall and another one is a bit damaged.
After years and 3 sets of BFG MTs I have never seen such damage to a BFG. Never ever. The sidewalls on the BFGs are definitely much stronger. Apart from that the STTs are fine. Good pattern for the mud and about as noisy as the BFGs. I won't be buying STTs again. |

Purely for the cost it was cooper STT.
Less than £100 each vs £160 each for the BFG. I just couldn't justify it when buying 5 tyres. In comparison to the standard boost wheels with BFG AT's on I've not noticed any difference in noise etc. HTH 2006 Defender Double Cab- Zambezi Silver |

^^ Not sure where you priced them up from but the price you were given for BFGs?
![]() ![]() Cooper price was good though! 72% were in favour of the BFGs as well? You either didn't shop around enough or they seen you coming! ![]() From March this year.... Its significantly taller - ie. bigger diameter for more diff clearance when off roading. Personally I'd go for 285/75R16 (for the looks and size) but you are supposed to fit a wider wheel for that. |
