It's a mystery what happened, as you say there is a definite lack of Aggressive AT in that size.
ST maxx - NO Rugged trek - NO Grabber AT2 - Yes Grabber AT3 - No Wrangler Duratrac - Maybe Wildpeak AT3W (not the WA) - NO Geolander X-AT - NO (275-70-16 only which is closeish) BFG AT - YES (but HOW MUCH £?) TOYO AT3 - NO Mickey T BAJA AT - NO Maxis wormdrive - NO That's a highlight few anyway Can't say if it is just the state of the world or they all think it's not needed enough to justify importing them. Yeah, tough to find anything decent! I see the Maxx ST is available in the same 235/85/16 size that are currently fitted, but was hoping to change for a size that give a better, slightly more aggressive stance. Might pop down to the local tyre place, they do Falken so might be able to get the Wildpeak in something similar. There's always the option of a mud tyre but it's a bit overkill for what I'll likely be doing most of the time, although I've got plans to do some of the more famous greenlanes in Wales, so you never know. The rear tyres currently on it are ancient and I don't fancy driving too far with them on when I pick it up, so availability now is crucial unfortunately.

Yup and YUP
I'm on 235-85R16 and whilst I Love the ST-max the slightly wider footprint of the 265 is where I want to go. It's madness that they (cooper) import the STT pro in a 265 but not the ST yet the ROW do get it. I'm down to 1/2 depth so it's the usual time to think of swapping out but it's been stalemate over no real alternative that does everything that the ST-max does, yet in 265-75 https://tiresize.com/comparison/ Means you can see the difference when choosing alternative sizes. The wildpeak AT3W is nice looking, sadly the UK only gets the AT3WA which is a milder pattern. The search continues.. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

I've just found myself on John Craddock's page and they've got the STT pro for £144 a tyre?! Says they're in stock but seems quite cheap? Had them on my old TD5 90 and they we're brilliant, but that was purely a toy...was really looking for something not quite as aggressive as a full on mud tyre, but tempting at that price if they're in stock.
I see you're in South Devon... I lived in South Hams for 20 years, hoping to move back that way as soon as our house sells in Cornwall. It's a beautiful part of the country and we miss it really. I'm actually picking my Landy up from Slapton once it's sorted next week. Just trying to get ahead of the game tyre wise! |

I have the STT pro on the Series and they seem ok for road manners but cannot comment on what they are like with defender levels of weight and power.
I think Devon or Cornwall is all a nice place. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

Would you consider 255/85/16?
Seems to be a popular size. Not available in AT, but the MT Toyos seem to be generally well respected, not too aggressive and not particularly expensive! |

Yeah, I've had a look at the Toyo's too, they seem to come pretty well respected to be fait and are a good price. I've got a couple weeks to make a decision so will have to have a think.

I was seriously considering them myself recently, but I ended up fitting 18s instead.
There's a lot of threads about 255/85/16 on here, so worth having a good read before you take the plunge. |

Cornwall is lovely....until the tourists descend!! Me and the missus both miss Devon, there's a lot more greenery and Dartmoor is hard to beat. Definitely feel more at home there although we've made a lot of friends here, the people are great, but Devon is calling MY old 90 was just a truck cab, so no idea what the STT pro would be like on a 110 SW, should be pretty good but hadn't considered a mud tyre until I saw those at that price...like I said, very tempting! They do look cool |

I think a std TD5 has a quoted standard top speed of 81mph. Given the STT pro has a speed rating of K(68mph) then it would potentially be an issue for on road insurance.

Very strange with the speed ratings as most of the STT pro range have a Q rating - 100mph? Not sure why select one's are a K rating? Really difficult to find an aggressive AT tyre at the moment that's in the right size.

Not really helping as such, but I fitted 255 85 16 Toyo open country MT's. I find them great on and off road, very sure footed and they look good too.

Yes, someone above mentioned a thread on this forum about 255/85/16 as an alternative...I've not been able to find the thread to check it out! Looking at the 235/85's currently fitted, the tyres look very tall, are the 255/85's not taller again? It's certainly an option if they look good as well. Do you have a picture with them fitted by chance?
