Hi David,
I fitted arches to my hi-cap tub a couple of weeks ago. It was a relatively pain free process. AndrewS' input on this thread was really helpful: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic6071.h...nstruction I offered the arches up to the tub, drilled 5mm holes to correspond with the locations on the arch, rust-proofed the holes and then used 4.8x14mm blind rivets to fit the arches. I used ten on each side and the arches are really solidly mounted. Beware that the hi-cap tub's wheel wells are bigger than the normal wheel wells, such that a heat gun will come in handy. ![]() Click image to enlarge Joel Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

Joel,
Yours looks really well done and good, I'm just thinking ahead as I haven't got my 130 doublecab high capacity yet, I get it in September, still driving my 110 double cab. Can I just buy standard rear arches and fit as you said with help with heat gun? I ordered my black sawthooth alloys, taken delivery of them, they look great. On the hunt for a nice canopy as well... Thanks |

David,
No problem. Yes, standard rear arches are what you need. They're symmetrical. I bought a pair second hand and wet sanded them until they were as smooth as silk. A local body shop painted then in Havana and the match was perfect. Go me ![]() The heat gun helps out, but isn't necessary. Worst case, you'll have a slight inward dip in the centre of the arches as the 'limbs' of the arch are stretched outwards. I'm a long way from mechanically competent, but I've been stretching my skills working on the 130. Take your time and I'm sure you'll be fine. ![]() As you'll have seen from AndrewS' post, the shape of the 130's tub's wheel wells means that there is a small gap between each limb of the arch and the surrounding bodywork. Some fit chequer plate to fill the void but I don't think it's necessary. Show us some pics of the 130 when it arrives! One last though; are the sawtooths rated high enough for a 130? Joel |

Joel
Thanks for the help, I will pick up rear arches plenty about. I will put some photos up of the 130 when she arrives, as I said not until September, my dealer said it was going to be built soon and I wasn't in a hurry and wanted the final registration as well. You asked about the saw tooths, correctly, no if you loaded 130 to full capacity, I bought genuine ones for this reason, replicas aren't weight rated. Saw tooths are between boost alloys and the standard 130 steels on weight capacity, I can't remember the exact figures but I was happy with the margins ![]() David |

Canopy is from AFN in Portugal.
Might be selling it soon as thinking of going back to a pick up. ![]() Defender 2.5 300TDI 110 HCP - Keswick Green Defender 2.2 TDCI 130 HCP - Orkney Grey - GONE Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE LUX - Corris Grey/Black Pack - GONE Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE LUX - Montaciano Red/Black Pack - GONE |
