Luckily not defenders, especially any of the limited edition ones.
Begs the question of what will happen if one is damaged/written off pre-delivery and no spare vehicles available. "Three Land Rovers were destroyed when a car transporter burst into flames on the M62 near Huddersfield last night. The driver of the transporter managed to escape unhurt before the fire took hold. The M62 eastbound was shut for several hours. Firefighters from Rastrick, Halifax and Rochdale fire stations managed to save four of the seven Land Rover Discovery vehicles the transporter was carrying." http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/update/20...m62-blaze/ |

I'd say luckily the driver got out unharmed. If I had to ask questions then what would have caused the car to explode and what if it exploded 'after' delivery to its new owners. A happy family for instance... |

I wonder Supacat if it had any connection with the link you posted about the New Range Rover that was claimed instantly combusted. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

In the linked report it doesn't, but several of the other reports elsewhere on the web say that the Landrovers were "exploding" before the fire service arrived. I don't think that there's any doubt that it was the tractor unit that caught fire, and the fire then spread to the cargo. it is sadly typical of the unimaginative, ignorant, and generally incompetent twaddle that nowadays passes as journalism and reporting. The worst that would have been happening would be that the tyres were popping off in the fire, which isn't actually an explosoin in the strict sense anyway. Modern cars don't explode, except possibly in Hollywood, but why let accuracy get in the way of a dramatic story? |

Tyres explode in car fires, looks and sounds dramatic, I would guess that's maybe what happened and based on witness accounts. Andy

Some salesman somewhere will be ringing a customer to explain that the car they ordered and have been waiting patiently for will now not be available but if you would like to re-order ......................
At least they can be pointed to the news story. |

I know from personal experience that when these transporters arrive at our dealership the cars on board have pretty much zero fuel in them.
A lot of our cars don't even make it off the industrial estate for fuelling. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic 2010 90 SMC Over Land Nero Edition - Santorini Black Metallic (Now Departed) |

I believe that the vehicles affected by this were destined for Germany

They did well not to have the whole thing go up. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
