central locking / alarm faults
Hi Folks, can anyone shed any light on a non functioning central locking system?

I was told that central locking was not fitted on the car, but after I bought the car home it is obvious it is fitted.

The alarm works fine off the fob, if I 'hot wire' the orange and pink wires in the drivers door post, all doors lock and unlock.

If I unlock the door with the key the black and the yellow/pink both have continuity to chassis, if I lock the door black still has continuity to chassis, yellow/pink has 1.7 volts.

I'm a bit puzzled as to the fix, so before I say stuff it and put a Toad alarm over the top of the fault, does anyone have any possible ideas as to the cause?

Thanks

Ickle

If it had a warranty I would, plus the list of other bits that I will have to do. As I intend to keep it for a long while, I am happy to sort the niggly stuff out myself.

Does anyone have any technical ideas?

Thanks

Might be a faulty 10AS unit (green box on bulkhead behind instruments) which controls CDL and alarm / immobiliser. Check yours has a number ending in 280, as the 270 series don't support CDL. Access is easier with the driver's side speaker removed.

You will need a Nanocom or similar diagnostic kit to sync the 10AS with the main ECU and to program your remote fobs. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

Thanks Simon,

I'll check it at the weekend.
