United Kingdom 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 X-Tech LE Orkney Grey
Heritage Hardtop Final Specification
Hello All

Felt like I had to sign up and vent a little (well large) frustration. I am confused (and annoyed) about the final FIXED specification of the Heritage Hardtop. After reading threads on here and reviews in the press - I was under the impression that the "roof appointment pack" was standard. I contacted my dealer on Monday to discuss my build sheet - which stated that the roof appointment pack was included.

They have since contacted me again - quote from their email below.

Hi Jason,

I am really sorry, but I have had confirmation that the Heritage Hard top will not have a Roof Appointment Pack.
Order control have just emailed me back. I would imagine that they will communicate it officially in the next few days.

I am annoyed that a limited "special" final addition to the Defender cannot not be specified to the individual, especially when that individual is paying for the pleasure. I completely understand that JLR would not want the vehicles changing visually - and neither would I, but AC, roof appointment pack, stereo etc would make this a better vehicle for the end user. JLR seem to have blocked the standard packs most people want and JLR will end up producing a vehicle most of us will not be happy with. They are building something that will not be practical for everyday use. It should be a celebration of the old and new and enjoyable to drive - all day - everyday

The speculation and uncertainty has changed so many times over the past few months, last week I thought that it was it - sorted - apparently not!

Its only too late when it rolls of the end of the production line.

And I cancelled my HT due to lack of roof window pack.

I was lucky enough to get a SW though.

I am still a bit cheesed about the lack of AC though.

still seems like there very much in demand at the mo and the dealers will have no problem selling any ones allocation if they choose to not go through with the purchase.

To this end it would seem that LR don't really give two hoots to what you, I or even Rog wants in our Heritage
Defenders.

i love the heritage looks

but the lack of air con makes it a deal breaker

as often I take my dog with me on long trips, and dont want to be driving on motorway with windows down

its especially stupid, seeing as when I was on the factory tour, there were loads of LHD heritages with air con fitted

just us buyers in the UK being treated as poor cousins

anyway, ordered a 90 ht XS with better seats, and aircon, for similar money (if not less)

I've got an XS and to be honest I think the air con is overrated, you only have two vents centrally and ideally require one vent each side as well. I personally could live without it. Just wish they had the old vent flap system, simple and very effective!

As a dealer said to me when I went to collect my Keswick, "With a heritage you're not getting value for money" You're limited to what options you can have, apart from the seats and wolf steels it's basically a base spec model, which for the same money you can have an XS model, with extras and available options!

I Don't blame you at all Cozz
I'm only getting one as an extra, not a replacement.
I also need AC
