Sorry K9F, wrong person to ask (although I accept you 'put it out there'). Empathise with a different bike for a mid-life crisis, but an HD would be a long way down a very long list of bikes. If I was given one, I would sell it and buy one of these:

http://thebikeshed.cc/2013/11/29/spirit-of-the-70s-fox/

Far cooler, better handling, more individual, British and no space for SWMBO, so the open roads are all your own....The website has loads of other examples to inspire you.

Or, go to these guys (and then have an excuse for a cruise back from Madrid rather than Kent).

Thumbs Up

If a gun was held to my head, this bobber is the HD I would get:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/content/h-d...n-883.html

But it would have to be a mighty big gun. Rolling with laughter Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Such as? A comment such as this is of no use to me in my time of need whatsoever! Enlighten me please!

A little more background....My days of leaning with my chest on the tank reaching forwards for the bars are over. I need more of a sit up and beg or a Parker Knoll Recliner on wheels stance. Something eye catching and it needn't be too quick off the mark. I'm after comfort, less strain on the torso and enjoyment rather than a licence loser. BMWs are off my list as they are so well engineered they are a little to staid.

Steve you may be on to something. Thank you. Bow down

Now the Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle has captivated my interest especially as it's under £8k! May need to go to Winchester as well as Southampton. Shocked

Sorry yes, a little glib.

I was always a jap plastic rocket boy but like you say the years creep up on us all, My itchy 'buy it now' finger keps trying to get me in trouble over the Husqvarna Nuda 900R.

But as with my take on the Harleys style and taste are very subjective things so many will hate the Nuda, and likely one of my other secret desires the KTM Duke 690

Just looked at the HD street 750 and its not quite what i picture when i think of Harleys to be honest, I guess my perception is always of those fat chopper type things that manage a 7 degree lean before scraping chrome on the tarmac and sound like 2 cylinder diesels. 3 Landrovers

I suppose K9F has to decide whether he's having a mid-life crisis and wants to resolve it by wearing chaps and pretending to be the Terminator or by losing his licence by buying a ________ (fill gap with any KTM 'Duke') Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

I had a 2008 KTM Superduke "R", best bike I EVER had, (owned one of the first uk Honda SP1 twins (w plate,2000) WI Quill exhaust anorl)).

KTM "R" had an Akrapovic exhaust, which was still scrapped on serious bends......Happy days! Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Best thing to say is go ride one

Sound is superb.

Like lots of things there are better bikes out their that will do everything better but the HD has a soul is ultimately customisable & each owner is different, all very much like defender

Life is too short for regrets do it, if it does not work out all you have lost is a bit of cash.

Better to have done & have some regrets if it does not work out than not to have done & die wishing you had.

My neighbour has two I love the sound of them starting up 2020 P300 HSE

^^I like your train of thought PJB. 'Soul' they have and pretty much like my Defender whilst I didn't need one it was 'heritage' that played an important part in me buying one I think. Thumbs Up

Bow down Ironically enough the 2016 48 model is just what I was discussing this very afternoon. With the possibility of a stage 1 tune, wire wheels and chopped rear fender with Vance and Hines grenade pipes as factory options. Have got myself an invite to the launch party and a test ride when the 2016 model arrives.

Also went to Ducati, the Scrambler was a little disappointing in the flesh. Nevertheless a 696 Monster did catch my eye.

Decisions, decisions. I cannot envisage life without a motorcycle. Triumph gets collected Tuesday. I'll miss her a little. Big Cry

Swac3 thanks for enlightening. I now realise the KTM whilst it ticks most of my boxes is a mean beast and will probably cost me dearly but not in monetary terms perhaps? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Yeah, it makes me realise what that annoying kid at the supermarket checkout fawning over the chockies is feeling ( But i want it i want it Its not fair), theres always the much more sensible 390 Evil or Very Mad

If the money is there go for what you want tho, I made a choice many years ago over a new YZF and a Blade, taking the YZF as Yamaha had a great finance offer at the time, and always regretted it, then to add insult to injury Yam lopped £1000 off the price a year later trashing the resale value /doh 3 Landrovers

A bike ain’t a bike unless it’s a V2 (Harley, Ducati, Guzzi, I’ll accept a BMW as being a flattened-out V). If you’re gonna go HOG, go for springer front forks.

No, don’t, I shall be EXTREMELY jealous.

Peter (too old to use any of the above as they should be used, looking out for an old sit-up-and-beg Bonnie)

Another mitigating factor is that after 7 years of Defender ownership I have finally come to the end of the road with regards to it's evolution. I have it how I want it and need another project to occupy my time and spare cash. The Defender is still a keeper and owes me nothing. The Triumph was my project before the Defender. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
