Hi all,
Wondering if anybody can advise? My temperature gauge is working fine except the gauge doesn't illuminate when the lights are switched on. I bought a LED light set, but couldn't find the bulb, so I'm wondering if it's a sealed for life LED affair. Hope somebody can advise. Cheers Andy |

Assuming it's a standard Td5 gauge then there is definitely a bulb, pushed into a separate holder on the back. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

When you look at the rear of the gauge it is fairly obvious as it is a bulb holder with two terminals on, from memory it is a 286 1.2v bulb fitted from the factory.
What you may find is that if you cant see the red and black wires (from memory) going to the bulb holder then the bulb holder may have simply fallen out of the back of the gauge and if you are lucky it will still be plugged into the 12v supply. Matt |

Sorry my bad.......
I confused the two gauges when I wrote my query up. 1) the clock looks like a sealed for life unit, ie no serviceable parts (eg bulb); 2) the temp gauge light is very easy to do.... Sorry my crap memory..... So is the clock sealed for life? Indeed the speedo also looks like it's a sealed for life unit as well..... Ps changed the bulb on the temp gauge Cheers Andy |

The clock is "sealed", with LEDs on its PCB. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Coincidence, one of my my speedo bulbs went out today, so it was replacement time.
I changed the bulb without removing the gauge, rather just unscrewed the binnacle, tilted it up for access, and used a socket to retrieve the bulb. did try tweezers, but fishing around blindly was frustrating. Correct socket size is 11/32, with 1/4" drive, guides in easily, grips the bulb nicely, just a gentle twist, and out it came. Insert the new bulb by placing it in the socket, gentle push in and twist. Click image to enlarge |
