Yes, I prefer the rectangular DRLs. Think I'll follow your example!

I quite like them as well, where did they fit the controller? I might have a go myself, can't be any harder than cutting holes in my bonnet

Chris is fitting the same DRL bumper to our truck next week My wife pranged our bumper on the Billing Offroad course, so good excuse I prefer this style of light too to the single/twin spots available from some like UT, its a better balance.
@Dora I assume as they are permanently on there is no controller. Will know soon though... 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |

acuss01 There should be a controller of some sort by law. The DRL's must dim or extinguish when the main lights are turned on.

My understanding is that the DRLs come on with ignition, with side lights, but off with headlights.

This is what I have read,
"Daytime running lights must be bright enough that they can be seen clearly in daylight and as a result are too bright to be used at night time when they would cause dazzle. Daytime running lights should therefore go off automatically when headlights or sidelights are switched on. Daytime running lights don't have to be separate lights - some car manufacturers combine them with the front position lamps (side lights) in which case the daytime running lights will dim when the headlights are turned on. If daytime running lights are located very close to indicator lights then the DRL on the appropriate side of the vehicle must turn off while the indicator is operating to avoid masking its signal. They can also be made to function as front position (side) lights, which operate at a reduced intensity when the vehicle sidelights are switched on. ." |

Dora - The controller was attached to a radiator bracket, bottom right side, there are several holes in this.
The DRL's come on when the engine starts, they go off when the side lights are switched on. When you turn the ignition off, they stay on for about 10 seconds before going off. accus01 - I think you will be happy with the quality and fitting. Steve |

I used one of these http://www.safetydaylights.com/nz/the-comp...oller.html but mounted it in the battery box under the passenger seat for easy direct connection to the battery. I ran the positive feeds from the relay to the DRLs and the signal feed from the sidelights back to the relay in a length of loom tube to the nearside wing.
I guess it means that there's a bit more wire running forwards and back compared to putting the controller near the front of the car, but it all runs in the same loom tube (together with the positive feed for my Boomslang headlight upgrade) so I'm not too bothered. However having put it all together I'm kicking myself for not putting a "spare" positive wire in too for the driving lights I plan to fit one day! |
