Not sure on the seatbox dimensions off the top of my head.
I'd be very careful of airflow in there and over heating. It's pretty much a sealed metal box with hot parts underneath and rubber of carpet for insulation to keep it hot! Unless you can add a small fan for ventilation but the seatboxes would be my last choice. They also get damp, wet even in winter. |

Might need to be a bit smaller to fit ok. I have one of these in there (passenger side on my LHD - the fuse area, mounted on the front wall of the box, titled inwards) just fits and is 55 x 280 x 173 mm
http://www.amazon.de/Eton-SDA-150-4-Car-Hi...BC8R09Y0BE Although I agree that it can get moist in there, I mean all the fuses are in there so it can't be completely mad to put the amp in there too, can it? Keep it off the floor of the box though. Modern digital amps are much smaller and don't get hot at all if you don't push them hard for hours (build plenty of headroom into the loudness you want to listen to) and you don't run them so hot. The HU gets really hot in the dash if you like it loud and you only have the onboard amps. |

Cheers guys. I've decided to hold off until I get back to the car.
I'll have to amuse myself building the custom pods out of MDF instead! |

Yes, class D Amps are more efficient and produce less heat.
Moisture wise I suppose you could put in some of those things that absorb moisture. (Can't remember what they are called.) |

I spent an hour with tiger seal and body tape making mine watertight, took a while but seems to have worked - amp has been there for about 12 months now still working well!
I would have thought you could put some holes in the seat box cover to add some ventilation under the seat? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |
