If you dig there is plenty of things that aren't technically legal under our regs , but are allowed here because of eu regs

Got the flash unit for hi level braking

fitted now , looks ok , would say im not 100% happy with it , but if it catches someones attention who would have hit me then i will bč 100% happy Laughing

flashes 4 times fast then 4 times bit slower then as normal , flashing to normal only lasts about 3-4 seconds , so really shouldnt be that annoying to any one behind

Much confusion presently arises from the fact that it is illegal under EU law for the UK to prohibit any vehicle feature which is legal under EU law.

Because the EU allows flashing brake lights, front obligatory lights mounted less than 600 mm from the road, these moronic "steering" fog lights, and so on, all of which are specifically illegal under UK law as written, they cannot now be legislated against by the UK. In effect, it would be illegal to enforce the UK law as written.

This absurd situation makes it sometimes very difficult to know what is, and what is not, actually legal!

I think there have been a number of amendments to the UK law, as an example The Road Vehicles Lighting (Amendment) Regulations 1994, made changes, amongst other things, to "Lamps and reflectors fitted on movable parts of a vehicle"

Indeed there have, though the specific example you mention makes on the whole completely trivial and inconsequential amendments (allowing buses which are embarking or disembarking under-16s to use hazard lights, for example).

The good thing about this situation is that it allows an large number of legal types etc to earn a very good living doing work which is really completely pointless!

When the UK leaves the EU after the referendum we can chuck out all this nonsense and re-instate proper construction and use and lighting regulations.

No steerable fog lights then! Reason enough on its own to leave the EU, in my opionion.

durite do a kit for making brake light flash

Why would you want your brake lights to flash? Surely you would just look like a knob? Rolling with laughter

Human eyes see flashing lights better than static ones.. Especially if it's peripheral vision.. More likely to be seen if semi distracted.. ... ,-------,
