tyres 285/285
Whats the biggest tyres you can fit to standard defender alloys.. mines got a 2" lift and the 235/85 wranglers look like toy wheels.. had recips trails before but would never go back on remolds!! Cheers

No doubt you're going to get lots of people saying they have 285s and they're fine, BUT and i keep saying this, its not what will fit or what people say they have fitted and have had an MOT done 'no problems' it's what the tyre manufacturer states that's going to keep you out of a potentially massive pile of poop should you have a crash/insurance incident.

I'm happy to be corrected but on a 7j rim 265 75 16 . 3 Landrovers

255/85 would be a good size I would think.

+1 for the 255/85 size, That gives (mixing units) a 33" tyre, which is similar to the 285/75 but without the extra width.

Having a slightly less wide tyre helps with traction in mud etc and is also less trouble with the turning circle/rubbing (the wider tyres often need wheel spacers to get the turning circle back).

Just my 2c worth....Wink

cheers

You don't need a 2" lift for 255s or 285s, they fit on a standard height Defender...

But I'd go for the 255s, narrower the better.
If I could find a set of 8.25 Michelin XZLs at a sensible price (they do/did exist) I'd have a set.
