Yes, aftermarket ones are all rubbish and genuine are not much better. I replace them at least once a year before the MOT test.

That's shocking. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

OK, I'll ask the dumb question - what are they? Only had my 90 for a few months and any work I've done on it has been attaching new bits, not replacing old stuff so I'm not sure what I'm looking at. If they were off a ser111 88" then I'd know exactly what they were as there was little if anything original left on it by the time I sold it.

Rear bottom shock absorber bushes.
I am hoping for slightly better performance out of the genuine bushes as I did at a guess 10000 miles on the ones that were on it when I bought it. However, the Land Rover centre have a knowing snigger at me every time I buy some, and like blackwolf says, they also reckon the genuine won't be much better! 2002 110 td5 |

I've got 30k out of genuine before now, going back to genuine to after using those stupid Polybushes things.
Hell no, you don't need to replace Polybushes just the sheared shocks instead. Standard shocks and bushes are the way to go... The rear lower do seem the most common though to go but they get a lot of punishment. Potholes and speedbumps all add to it, far more than greenlaning to my mind due to the speed factor. Of course if you tow also like I do then that hastens their fate even quicker but the rear lowers are incredibly easy to change. It got a whole new set to fit soon, but old ones back in again for now and they are right on the edge of there usability but still going so must have covered about 32k but you'd likely get an mot advisory which is why hopefully I'll change soon. |

This looks very bad, I am not easy on my 90 but never had that.
You don't have bad vibrations I assume. Roel 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

I had slightly cross words with an independent who I asked to supply genuine bushes which actually turned out to be sh.tpart that only lasted a couple of months. Steve.
