Through the release of certain papers under the freedom of information act it has been discovered that only one alien union, ‘The Interplanetary Degeneration Chapter of the Cosmos Drivel Union’ contacted Earth. At the time an immediate cross government party think tank committee was set up in 1978 to negotiate with the alien union, many of the ‘Union Brothers’ of all trades were also invited on to the committee. It was decided that due to the advanced knowledge of this ‘The Interplanetary Degeneration Chapter of the Cosmos Drivel Union’ who had an advanced consciousness about Solidarity issues, but then again this advanced consciousness did not necessarily follow the same wishes as their fellow workers here on Earth. This resulted in the bosses deciding in future to ignore the workers’ demands and refused to negotiate with them. This line taken by the management lead to the unions ignoring the bosses and formed the new formulation of the ‘sit down strike’ and the demand for comfy arm chairs and sofas on the factory floors in order to achieve this, which had the knock on effect of the soft furnishing industries rapid expansion, which in turn fed the economy. However this state of affairs could not last and once the disputes were settled and there was no need for the ‘comfy chairs or sofas’, this caused a surplus of soft furnishing in the market, in fact so great was the sudden swamping of the market with these items that the Government had to embark on an out of town building programme to store them, and the setting up of several companies to dispose of the chairs and sofas, and to this day companies like Sofa Works and DFS are still trying to move the over stock due to the ending of the sit down strikes of the late seventies. Due to this the government abandoned its Extraterrestrial Union search and we turned its back on union solidarity. That would explain my lack of interest in some of the goods offered by dfs and their regular sales.
Does this also explain the demise of the Ford Anglia and why tooth paste was traditionally also white? |

Oh! That’s a hornets nest you are opening there Caterham. Toothpaste in its early form was black and not traditionally white , it was made from soot and did a very good job of teeth cleaning. In the early eighteen hundreds when America opened up its frontiers to mass immigration several European entrepreneurs landed on Americas shores with suitcases full of the so called Black Toothpaste which sold well. However with the sudden rise of the KKK this black toothpaste did not go down well at all and almost on a nightly basis vendors of the Black Toothpaste were burnt to the ground. Obviously this could not go on so a solution had to be found and white toothpaste was invented, satisfying the KKK objective. The white toothpaste was very popular until a sixties rallying speech by the great Martin Luther King who categorised the white toothpaste as being racially led and called on all the soul brothers of America to boycott the brands who manufactured them. This led to a fight back where Red and Blue stripes were added to the white base making the toothpaste patriotic to the American flag, and so avoiding a constitutional catastrophe. The Ford Anglia was an early precursor to the yet undeveloped Stealth Bomber. British and American scientist hoped the peculiar angled shape of the body would distract enemy radar from spotting it. Sadly due to a change in government and cut back of the military budget the Anglian Bomber was never finished and the Government decided that in order to claw back some of its development cost that the wings be omitted and the design sold to the Ford Motor Company. It's been said before and I'll say it again.......this site is a fantastic wealth of information.
I'll go through this with girls as it'll be a brilliant subject for them to them to enlighten their the new class and teacher on their return to school. That's a couple of excellent subjects I'm sure no one else will write about. Last edited by Caterham on 30th Jul 2015 6:05am. Edited 1 time in total |
