So I made a start at about 9.00am this morning with a view to changing out the broken wiper rack, and the wiper boxes.

Here is the offending article from the already removed wiper motor.

I removed the four coach screws from the pic above, and the circlip and washer seen here below.

I then fitted the new wiper rack to the motor.

First job on the truck was to remove the wiper arms from the boxes, then onto the dash. Take the three torx 30 screws out from the top of the dash.

These torx 20 either side where the door meets the body.

Then the six at the bottom.

And finally the two torx 30 from the passenger handle.

The dash can come forward now, but I also removed the steering shroud and the steering wheel.

I don't seem to have anymore pics as I got quite engrossed in what I was doing and forgot to take any.

I then removed some of the heating ducts and could then get access to the boxes and old wiper rack. loosen the bolts on the back of the boxes inside the truck and pull the old rack out, make sure you take the the wiper arms off first, not like me. The new rack can the be pushed through and the motor bolted back, then reassemble all the bit and bobs. Try the wiper motor and get it to park, then reattach the wiper arms. Job done.

You will note that I didn't explain how to remove the wiper boxes, mainly because the old ones were in as new condition, it didn't seem much point. You don't need to remove the whole dash out of the truck to do this, you can manage just dropping it forward. I hope this helps someone, and thank you for all the help guys.

My LR outlet quoted 8h @ £80/hr to do exactly this.
No doubt winter will strip the spindles and i will have a go myself.
Thanks! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

This took me about 2.5 hrs with a bit of a hangover you could do it faster I think, I reckon you could get this down to about an hour. All the best

Wish I'd gotten a few more pics, but it's relatively straight forward if you do it methodically. On the last MOT there was some advisory to do with the suspension, think I'll have a go myself again. We intend to keep the truck for awhile so I guess I will become a bit of a mechanic. All the best

Did this last year with a mate on his TD5 but will be no help in this dash removal. Great advice above re the spindles though.
