Thanks for sharing your photos @jeeves, brilliant formation flight with your Landy in the pic too...
Wowsas... That brings back childhood memories of when Dad took us to Farnborough Air Show and did not warn us of the awesome, indescribable, but exhilarating sound of the Vulcan - easily the star of many such show for me... Thank you @Flyingfocrs so much for sharing that awesome video... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

"Yesterday, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which regulates UK airspace and its users, imposed, with immediate effect, certain restrictions on displays by vintage jet aircraft at all airshows over land. High-energy aerobatics are, for the time being, no longer permitted.
Operations Director and Chief Pilot of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, Martin Withers, has spoken to his contacts at the CAA, and has released this statement: “I am pleased to report that I have received assurances from our contacts at the CAA that XH558's 2015 display routine is not classified as aerobatic, and so consequently, we are hoping to continue to fly on through XH558's last season with minimal changes to our display.” |

As far as I'm aware it only has 1 more flight left to do anyway!
Might be wrong though... |

That's what I was led to believe as well Keith.
I attended the RIAT at Fairford last month and it was announced then that the Scottish airshow (which I will also be at) would be her last airshow.. |

Interesting that the Vulcan team published this message only last week:
"In recent weeks, we have been made aware of rumours circulating of technical or weather related cancellations that have emanated from unofficial sources and then been populated across various channels. All of these proved to be false. We would like to stress that you should await official announcements made only either on our website, our Twitter feed @XH558 or Facebook page Vulcan XH558. These will always give the latest ‘up to date’ information messages as needed to keep you informed of fast moving developments that sometimes happen during an air show. If you hear a story, please check our own official feeds before spreading it on and do always quote the source please which will help verify that it is official. Thank you. WEATHER WARNING. This message is perhaps most relevant for the forthcoming weekend, as a severe weather front is expected along the southern and central areas of the country. Our teams will be working hard all weekend to keep you fully in the picture, so do follow our flight day information feeds that will tell you the very latest news. Follow XH558 on our ‘latest news’ section of our web site or social media from 10.30 tomorrow which will keep you fully updated on the build-up to flight. We will also provide a route guide to give as many people as possible a chance to see her. " http://www.vulcantothesky.org/appearances.html |

I'm going to Dunsfold with a mate on Saturday pretty much solely on the basis that I want to see a Vulcan in flight. I'm too young to have experienced them flying operationally and I wasn't even born by the time they sent one to the Falklands. I only know the craft courtesy of Thunderball and later through reading about the V-force and a general morbid fascination with nuclear warfare... (father a physics teacher doing the chain reaction mousetrap experiment might not have helped!)

I also just saw the Vulcan flying around near staverton airfield in Gloucester on my way down the m5 to my home, lots of people on the bridges over the motorway watching it.

Can't believe we missed it....
We were only a mile or so from the airfield, we had all the flying info, where it was going, times etc. Quite a few of us were watching the sky, never even heard it, let alone see it! Still......nice pictures Terry 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |
