Question for one of our forum brethren. Did a search but couldn't really locate a suitable thread.
Starter motor problems....Any known issues or quick fixes for no rotation (removal and cleaning etc)? New ones are not available and reconditioned ones at £105 (plus £70 retention on receipt of your old one) are like Hen's Teeth. Anyone know if it is possible or if it is compatable to try and source one through Ford Transit spares? He is probably trying to locate a part number on his as this is posted! Dgardel any clues? C'mon don't let Fekete down! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Is it not in warranty?
If not is there one that is...because you could swop it - call LR assist and get the new one fitted and swop back? Mike |

Good idea though Mike
Karlos was saying today how disappointing it was failing after only 3 years...BUT if you put it into perspective Karlos's starter motor has been well-used operating maybe 15-20 times a day...mine only 4-5 on average. In comparison everything has a finite life and when gone/used up, it gives up the ghost....By my useage against that of Karlos I should hopefully get 12 years use out of my starter motor! Know it doesn't console you Karl but it's not so bad when you look at it like that and put it into some form of perspective! You watch we'll be trampled in the rush now of other people's starter motor failure experiences. Hope not!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
