That's incredible to hear it survived that well. I felt sure it would be screwed! Brilliant news! Almost a little testament back to old Maurice and his brilliant design..............almost!!!
So now we know it's not dead and you don't seem too upset...................can we start taking the ?!?! Just asking! I'm writing an article for LRM. I am no wordsmith so will try my best but if anyone has the odd passage about the day I could plagiarise, then feel free to make your input and hopefully we can immortalise the event in print! Here's a few photos I took. I have some video too which I need to edit and then post up.
The original line before it was discovered that a Range Rover was not up to the job for the pro photographer and the 110 with the roof rack (6th in from right) was pressed into service to allow a photo to be taken from its roof. TopQ, was that the 130? He stayed at the campsite I was at but I never got to chat to him. He came from Holland? Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.

Yes, that was him. Very nice guy and did very well with the help of his 4 daughters. That's the best way to bring them up....get a Land Rover habit...😎
He also has a Lotus habit, so he possesses both of the most reliable cars on the planet... |

Hello All
Back from Wales, and intermittent www access, absolutely great to read Sticky's initial assessment. I really did think we may be a man down and permanently, but if not, that's great news, it was a sickening sight to see, when the local efforts to extract had to be aborted. I have sent Sticky a PM, hopefully we see some photos of this 'special' Defender back in action again soon. A great weekend overall, and really good to turn the 'virtual contact' we have on the Forum into a 'hands on' experience / meeting with some of you. As TopQ1967 (our Dutch friend) said to me 'one more tick on the bucket list'...absolutely fantastic effort to turn up...and what a piece of kit you have there, clearly used as these vehicles can be...excellent. Big thank you to bluebottle and jk84 who helped out also, ensuring that we had a few local working Defenders in attendance also. Weather on Sunday could have been better (for summer!) and those beach shots, especially as both Saturday and Monday were brighter... but it could easily have been worse, Friday (for us going to Wales) was bleak with rain for 6 hours! but 'Grey' is what we do here, and it didn't stop us, and certainly didn't take the fun out of the day. Thanks to all the 25 who attended. Here are a few of my shots. Did not know that there is someone with a SVX soft top on the forum here.
It can not be Matt, because I don't think he has opened his wallet yet for a set of those Dual Tone wheels. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Dave Mitchell from Land Craft. I only know because he was irritating me all morning!! It's quite nice to be at an event and someone other than a Lowranger doing something stupid!!! Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos. |

Had the first few pics from the photographer at the weekend. Just keep in mind he is holding back a selection of the best for the LRM article.

Hello Teario I forgot to point out earlier, that you deserve a special mention for turning up twice, thankfully on the second occasion, on the right weekend... Sorry to hear that you used up all your 'camping vouchers' the previous week, but well done for sticking with it, you are definitely a D2N member now...hope your 2nd post is a better one for you... I have just realised aswell that your late arrival meant that you are not in the photos.... and we were actually 26 not 25 in number. Don't ask us to do it again next week... Update on the Goldie;
I cannot tell you how amazing these vehicles are, the gear box was flooded with sea water but the axles were clear, time for a new clutch! I was nervous about all of the aluminium let alone mild steel but I think the immediate hot pressure was has really saved it. She started first time although I have some electrical issues that probably point to needing a new loom, which isn't a surprise really. I think I may bite the bullet and convert her to 12v as it was always a pain trying to figure out how Land Rover had spliced civilian fuses boxes onto military wiring and sourcing 24v components is going to get difficult and expensive eventually. |
