Do you have the interior ultrasonic sensor (above drivers side b pillar or by rear view mirror)?
Might sound stupid but make sure you have no coins or metal objects (keys, spanners etc) exposed nor anything plugged into the cigarette lighter within the range of the sensor. Most likely it is moisture caused the ultrasonic sensor to rust. Simply pull it free of the roof lining and unplug it, it can then be pushed back to fill the hole. Should stop triggering for now until you can source a replacement. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Thanks Steve,
I do have the sensor behind my right ear, but I unplugged it after the first time it went off, so last nights events were without the sensor. It did look ok and not damaged or rusty though. There's nothing plugged into the ciggy lighter at the moment. It just seems strange that it's gone off totally randomly. |

If you want a replacement sensor, get in touch with Kevin at MUD UK, he has a bag full, won't be expensive!!!

If the vehicle battery voltage drops low enough the BBUS will sound, but not the vehicle horn (same as if the battery was disconnected. I doubt when the alarm was sounding you noticed whether just the BBUS on its own, or both the BBUS and the horns were sounding, but when it next happens see if you can determine this.
If it is a sensor (or other) problem causing the alarm to active, they'll all sound. If it is low battery voltage, just the BBUS wil sound. If you have access to a diagnostic tool (eg Nanocom) the AS10 unit should have logged the trigger event, unless it was low battery voltage in which case the BBUS will just have done its own thing autonomously. (I am assuming that you have a BBUS, of course). |

Thanks for the replies - but what's a BBUS?
The horn was sounding in a constant tone until I pressed the blipper |

Battery Back Up Sounder. An additional little plug and play item that protects against battery cables being cut.

Has it been raining where you are lately? I had a similar thing some years back. The alarm kept going off randomly and the only common thing was it was always wet when it happened. Finally traced it to water getting across a door switch fooling it into thinking the door had been opened! New switch, job done, but frustrating in the mean time!!

Could be a faulty or mis-aligned bonnet switch.

It was certainly windy and showery last night, the previous time (now I come to think about it) - I'd jet washed it earlier that day All over, even cleaned the engine bay (eek) maybe some water has got in somewhere and it's still not dry yet. I don't use much pressure when washing, I just got carried away.
I've ordered a set of door switches just in case though The bonnet switch is new, the old one gave up and stayed down constantly so it was replaced a few months ago but I'll check that too. Thinking about it now though - I might check the bonnet switch position as my vehicles a Td5 but I've had a Puma bonnet fitted ages ago. |

If it's a faulty switch causing this a Nanocom would let you find out which one - the AS10 should log the trigger events.
