Removed door card on rear and O/S quarter panel and wiring seems brand new.. High level brake light is not illuminating but rear lenses go out when this bulb is removed... I'm stumped!! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Did you check the wiring inside the rubber joining boot , you would need to pull the wires through the rubber to check wires inside the rubber joint

doudt the problem would be in the door or in the small rear panel

Sounds like a short between the wiper wire and wire to high level brake

as your switching on wiper the wires are touching and feeding brake lights via the high level brake light wire

I second this, or again an earth.
Causes all sorts of weird things.
The earth strap bolt is on the transfer box underneath for the rear lighting.

If you I.D. the earth for the rear wiper. (Wiper end) try adding a temp earth from there to chassis ground and see what happens.
You may find it springs into life no problem and no brake lights either.
If it does then there is an earthing issue, one that needs sorting but your temp earth may cure it for a quick fix for now.

If it's not earth related then my bet would be the rubber boot as suggested.
Also check the plug to switch too is a tight fit and not loose.

All wires are as new.... Here is what is present.
No rear wiper
Low level brake lights come on
No high level brake light although bulb is OK
Remove this bulb and low level goes off
Wires inside rubber boot OK 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
