My first Defender !
Hello !

As a kid, I was travelling with my parents in a Land Rover One Ten, mainly in North Africa. It's also the very first car I've driven. As a result, Land Rover have always been the "normal cars" to me ... while the others were like fake Mr. Green

I had been dreaming of owning a brand new Defender for years, when I heard that the production was about to stop. Suddenly, it wasn't only a dream, it was my last chance to achieve this dream too !

A few month ago, I decided to sign for an order, no matter the fact I had many other important things to put money into. I went straight to my dealer's and made a deposit for one of the latest Defender to be sold in France. "Act now and think later" is a nice philosophy when it's about Land Rover, isn't it ? Wink

Here's the result, just after collection, a few days ago :

Fabien

PS. Sorry for my English which is not so good ...

Congratulations Fabien, lovely looking 90 and a very good decision you've made! I loved the comment - "I decided to sign for an order, no matter the fact I had many other important things to put money into." I was in an exactly same position this February - always wanted a Defender and when I found out it's a last chance to get one, all the logic went out of the window and I told myself, to hell with it, let's buy one, it's now or never - and there wasn't a second that would pass by and I regretted my decision. Exact opposite, I am one happy bunch every since! Once again all the best with it.

Thanks for such a warm welcome Very Happy

Yes, as you noticed, I live in a city where the greatest historical monument is a big hi-lift jack. Astonishing, isn't it ? Mr. Green

Let's talk about my Landy :

It is an 90sw "SE". I think it's close to the "XS" specification that you have in the UK (except for the alloy rims which are missing). It has electrical glasses, carpets, Bluetooth radio, mudflaps, side steps, part-leather seats, cubby box, etc ... I added air conditioning, steering protection bar, a taw ball/jaw unit, HD wheels and MT/R tyres ...

I wasn't sure about the HD wheel when I ordered the car : I was afraid they would look too rough. In the other hand, they were much cheaper. Finally, I don't regret my choice at all, as they really suit the car. She looks amazingly "retro" and elegant with them Rolling Eyes

I fitted a snow cowl last week and I am waiting for bumperettes to be delivered. I will probably install long range headlights later and a few accessories. The most important job will be rust proofing, despite the fact that I will stay far away from salted roads.

Actually, I won't use my Defender daily. Driving in Paris is horrible ! I will use it mainly for holidays and I can't wait going off road. I know a lot of charming unpaved roads, in the south of France where I have a holiday home ... I have always been dreaming about driving onto them. Now I can !!

I'll try to post better pictures soon.

By the way, I forgot to mention something :

I took the owner's manual out of the car this morning. There was a loose sheet of paper inside : "publication n° LSA 11 02 51 151"

It is supposed to amend the technical specifications described in the manual. It states that the engine actually delivers 150 Bhp and 400Nm Shocked

In the other hand, the registration document states that the engine delivers 122 Bhp. This is really weird ... I wonder if this paper was supposed to be put in my owner's manual or if it's a mistake from LR.

Who knows ... But should it be true, that would be great news Very Happy

Looks great! Cool

Your comment about the extra BHP etc... there was another post somewhere about this? I am curious, has JLR changed the ECU on all 90's recently in line with what they obviously can do given the 90 'Autobiography' is being sold with that increased engine power/torque?

As you say, if true, that would be great! Very Happy YOLO... You Only Live Once...

I just received the answer I was waiting for. Unfortunately, it seems that it was an error : it is a normal(*) 122Bhp Defender. This loose sheet was probably not supposed to be there. I guess it is better for reliability, anyway.

Fabien

(*) well, it is not 100% "normal" ... because it is my wonderful Defender Wink
