110 USW Maint after nearly 5years! - int coupling shaft!
well, decided at 52k with no real bad feels from the transmission (less heavy clutch) it was time to do some maint on the old girl (11MY Aug 2010 build)

this vehicle has been main dealer serviced, last one done 6k ago.

clutch - was actually ok, prob as it had a dealer one fitted at around 20k miles, 2 springs were a little loose but nothing too bad. friction plate same thickness bar a smidge as the new AP one.

Master cylinder - black sludgy fluid - seals on way out so changed that and the slave and the valve and the T piece adaptor - the latter varies with ford/LuK parts too and is not cross compatable!

the intermediate coupling shaft - what a horror. the boot wasnt fitted properly (which was a minor thing) - held on with a white cable tie, the main issue being the main male shaft had only been inserted up to the retaining clip, ie the clip had not been pushed further into the female section. result splines worn part way on both male and female parts, lots of rusty coloured bits in housing as expected, lots of end movement lateral and rotational play! - Ashcroft upgrade fitted.

front diff was pulled - i was suprised to find its not a 4pin one which i understood to be the case for 11MY vehicles (110)

rear diff pulled and replaced with Ashcroft Hypoid low pinion diff.

all drive members replaced. rears were shocking how much wear was in there. Cheers

its usage and clutch getting heavier which was emphasised when i drove a 110 at work the other day Cheers

mine at 52k miles. incorectly fitted at assembly too by the looks of it.





this is as it looked when the cover had come off, not even seated correctly



spline wear is only in top section of female and upto locking ring on male part.
